1) “IF” VE “WISH” CÜMLECİKLERİNDE “WOULD” KULLANIMI
“Would”, koşul ve dilek cümlelerinde sonuç göstermek için
kullanılır.
İPUCU
1) Seçeneklerde “would have Verb3” varsa, cümlede mutlaka
“IF” veya “Wish” olmalıdır.
2) Seçeneklerde “would be” cümlede mutlaka “IF” ve ya “Wish”
olmalıdır.
2) GİZLİ “IF” CÜMLELERİ
OTHERWISE – BUT- OR ELSE- WITHOUT + WOULD
Soruda bu yapılar verilmişse “would” elenmez. Bu bağlaçlar ile
kullanılan “would” bir “if” cümlesinin ima edilmiş halidir.
DİKKAT
“Gizli if” anlamı veren bu bağlaçlar KPDS’de en yakın anlamlı
cümleyi bulma sorularında çözüm yöntemi olabilir.

3) DUYURU CÜMLELERİNDE “WOULD”
“Would” sadece duyuru yapan “that” cümleciklerinde “will”
yapısının past hali olarak kullanılır. Bu şekilde “Would” yapısı
temel anlamı “söylemek / duyurmak” olan fiiller ile “that”
cümlecikleri içinde kullanılır.
DİKKAT: “That” cümleciği içinde “would” kullanılabilmesi için
rapor eden ana fiilin “past” zaman yapısında olması
gerekir. Örnekleri inceleyiniz.
4) “USED TO” ANLAMINDA PAST : “WOULD”
“Would” geçmişte tekrarlanarak yapılan eylemler için “used to”
ifadesinin yerine kullanılabilir. Ancak bu kullanımın “used to”
anlamı verebilmesi için “WOULD + EYLEM” yapısı kullanılmalıdır.
KPDS 2007: Russia, through a partition agreement with
Austria and Prussia, gained control of the rest of
the Baltics, and would retain them until the fall
of the Soviet Union in 1991.

ÖRNEK 3:
If it hadn’t been for the wind, the fire would never have spread so
fast.
A) Unless the wind develops, the fire is hardly likely to spread fast.
B) Even without the wind, the fire would have spread at such a
speed.
C) It was the wind that caused the fire to spread at such a speed.
D) Had there been a wind, the fire would have spread even faster.
