COURSE CONTRACT

Math 255-Spring 2022


DUE: Monday, January 10

Complete the following course contract before attending the first day of class.

1. Read the syllabus and initial each point below to indicate that you have
read and understand each statement. The syllabus is posted on Blackboard under
Course Documents. (Per college policy, a paper copy will not be provided for you, but
you are welcome to print a copy for yourself.)

(a) My office hours represent my guaranteed availability. If you cannot make


office hours, you should make an appointment to come see me if you need assis-
tance.

(b) You understand that knowledge of Calculus I-III (derivatives, integrals, and
vectors) will be assumed. You will review this material as necessary to make sure
you are fully prepared to understand the topics we cover.

(c) You will be present and an active participate during each class meeting.
You will minimize disruptions (arriving late, leaving class, texting, etc). You will
ask when you have a question. If you would like to use a tablet for note-taking
during class, you will discuss this with me beforehand.

(d) If you miss class, it is your responsibility to get the notes from someone in
the class. The slides are posted on Blackboard.

(e) You are aware of all Webwork, written homework, and project due dates.
You understand that written homework must follow the Homework Guidelines
(which we will discuss in class).

(f) You understand that you are encouraged to work with your classmates on
Webwork and written homework assignments; however, copying from a classmate,
solutions manual, online site, or another source is unacceptable.

(g) You will read all feedback on written work.


(h) You understand the extension policy.

(i) You are aware of the exam dates for the course and that if an exam must
be missed, in lieu of a make-up exam, the professor reserves the right to have that
score replaced by the average of your scores on the other four exams.

(j) You understand the maximum final grade policy.

2. Read the document “Webwork Instructions” then log-in to Webwork and


complete problem 1. Initial below that you have done so. The course Web-
work site and “Webwork Instructions” handout is posted on Blackboard under Course
Documents. Your username AND initial password are the first part of your North
Central email address.

(a) You have read the document “Webwork Instructions” with instructions and
tips in its entirety.

(b) You understand that Webwork assignments are not meant to be completed
in a single sitting, but rather should be worked on for 1-2 hours/day for 4-5
days/week. If you choose to wait until the night an assignment is due to
complete it, you understand that you will hate your life.

(c) You have completed problem 1 from Webwork01.
