Administration For The 2022-2023 School Year 8.5.2022
Administration For The 2022-2023 School Year 8.5.2022
August 5, 2022
The Uvalde CISD Board of Trustees, Administration, and I are working diligently to
develop a comprehensive return-to-school plan for the 2022-2023 school year that
addresses the needs of our students, staff, and families. While the plan is still a work in
progress, I wanted to share some important updates with you.
New Positions
As a district, fostering a secure and nurturing environment for all learning community
members is our top priority. As we prepare for the 2022-2023 school year, we have
created two new positions on our administrative team to oversee our recovery and
infrastructure enhancement efforts.
Director of Recovery
Nichole Henderson has been named Director of Recovery. Nichole has been with
Uvalde CISD for 7 years, most recently serving as the Lead Family and Student Support
Counselor. As Director of Recovery, Ms. Henderson will lead wellbeing support services
across the district, overseeing counselors and social workers, as well as the
implementation of enhanced training in trauma-informed care and recovery for
counselors and staff.

Administration Changes
We continuously work to position both students and staff for success. We are pleased to
announce that Christy Perez will serve as Principal of Uvalde Elementary as Mandy
Gutierrez has accepted a new position as Assistant Director of Special Education,
fulfilling her desire to support special education students across the district. A tenured
Uvalde CISD employee and parent, Mrs. Perez previously served as Assistant Principal
of Uvalde High School. Her background as both a teacher and a counselor will be
invaluable in ensuring students have the support they need during the upcoming school
year.
A complete list of campus administration teams for the 2022-23 school year is outlined
