PCA-Human Resource Frame Worksheet

Worksheet Objectives:

1. Describe the human resource frame

2. Apply the human resource frame to your personal case situation

Complete the following making sure to support your ideas and cite from the textbook and other

course materials per APA guidelines. After the peer review, you have a chance to update this and

format for your Electronic Portfolio due in Module 6.

1) Briefly restate your situation from Module 1 and your role.

My role is the Store Manager at Backyard Bowls. Backyard Bowls is a

sustainably company that solely focuses on Acai Bowls. Our menu also ranges from

smoothies, porridges, toasts, and more. We focus a lot on being and staying healthy,

offering a lot of enhancements to add to bowls and smoothies that are beneficial to your

health. My role involves managing the location in Santa Monica and creating an authentic

and positive work environment.

My situation involved me as a new Store Manager, transitioning into this position

in March 2022, I was vaguely informed of the responsibilities and changes that would

need to occur. Since the interview, I was told that the last Manager had neglected office

duties, back of house organization, and cleanliness of the store. When I was hired on and

started my training, that is when I was informed of every detail. Because of the lack of

detail, it took me by surprise and I had to have a change of focus on how to deal with the

current issues at hand. Though it was an overwhelming experience, I was able to

prioritize individual situations and make improvements starting from the most important.

2) Describe how the human resources of the organization influenced the situation.

One of the human resources frames of the organization that influenced the

situation is my Management Style. I don’t believe there to be a correct leadership style to

lead a successful organization, but it’s all about how you use it to your advantage. When

it comes to my situation, leading with a democratic leadership style led me to be more

productive and build a more positive work environment.

Additionally, the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator is another popular tool to examine

management styles. Mine being INFJ, I am introverted, inituitive, feeling, and judging.

Though I have personally been told leaders are to be more extroverted because they

should be outgoing and build relationships with others; I one hundred percent believe that

as an introvert, you can also be outgoing and build relationships with others. The only

difference is having some down time to recharge. Also there are separate advantages for

people with different MBTIs. As an INFJ, we are driven by strong values and seek

meaning in all areas of our lives including relationships and work. We are described as

deep and complex. This has been a great influence to my situation because of my

personality type, I am able to use the tools and skills I have to create a better place of

work at my current store.

3) Recommend how you would use the human resources for an alternative course of

action regarding your case.

Given my situation and the unpreparedness I had to take on, I believe that any

human resources frames can be used in this situation to ultimately lead to turning a

neglected store into a more structured and positive environment for all. Leadership and

Decision Making in Groups is an alternative course of action regarding my case.

Through Leadership and decision making in groups, shows that you work better

in numbers rather than on your own. Through my observation of the store and team

members, having one-on-one conversations will help better understand the needs of

everyone and where I can better align what direction to move the store to. Being able to

give tasks to each individual grows a stronger bond instead of only assigning tasks to one

individual.

4) Reflect on what you would do or not do differently given what you have learned

about this frame.

Reflecting on my human resources frame that I used and the alternative frame, I

believe that how I handled the situation through understanding my MBTI personality and

my management style, really gave me the tools to change a store in a more positive route.

Though, through the struggles of the beginning of it would have been nice to avoid, it

was something needed for me to learn.

The alternative human resources frame shows me methods of what I can use when

I do face another situation like this. I take this on as a learning opportunity rather than

something I should have done. I believe that whatever experience we encounter are all

learning opportunities that we face at one point or the other, and to alter that to avoid that

from happening doesn’t allow us to learn from them. Facing these challenges will give us

opportunities of what we can do for next time.
