Since the start of Covid-19, the pandemic has brought many new challenges that we have

had to adapt to in the last two years to stay safe and to beat the pandemic. The pandemic has

forced a majority of businesses to shut down or find alternative ways to do business while social

distancing. Telemedicine is one way the health care field has tried to protect the patients and

physicians from Covid-19. After being overwhelmed and stretched to the limit

(Guitton, 2021) found that “The COVID-19 crisis changed this situation. By stretching

public health systems to their last limit, the pandemic has forced to employ all available

means to compensate for the overwhelming pressure on health care systems”.

Telemedicine is an electronic means of providing medical care to patients remote or

virtually by the internet. It allows doctors and other physicians to work together and share patient

records virtually around the world. Telemedicine gives doctors the opportunity to provide care to

more patients by making telemedicine accessible to more people. Video conferencing, phone

calls, and emails are common ways telemedicine is used to continue to provide care to patients.

Covid-19 is still a threat with new strains and constant on and off high numbers.

Telemedicine has provided many patients a way to still seek medical attention by reducing the

need for in-person appointments unless necessary. Virtual phone calls and video calls have made

this possible while making it more convenient by not having to leave your home and risk

exposing yourself. Patients with poor immune systems or chronic medical problems no longer

have to risk themselves by seeing the doctor in person unless urgent.

Telemedicine is the fastest way to give medical care to any patient, hospital, or clinic

without having to be physically there. Telemedicine provides opportunities for more patients in

rural areas to receive medical care. Patients in these rural areas have a better chance of meeting
the best doctors to receive the best medical care for them. Telemedicine is an easy way to deliver

medical treatment over the internet to those who need it the most. Doctors can share patient

records and can collaborate in order to give patients all over the best care possible.

Telemedicine applications have the potential to speed up the treatment of a variety of

medical conditions. It also helps promote proper self-care by making it easier to seek medical

attention. Telemedicine enables doctors to do a more rigorous review of a patient’s health and

inspections for any abnormalities. (Haleen et al., 2021)Telemedicine reduces the need for

unnecessary emergency visits. By making doctors be readily available for patients. They can

Keep track of patients after surgeries and can check on their patients more frequently.

Telemedicine allows doctors to communicate with each other about patients around the world by

video conferencing.

Telemedicine has had rapid growth of development since the pandemic started to keep up

with the overwhelming demand in healthcare during the pandemic. Without alternative solutions

for medical care such as telephone and video conferencing many would not have been able to

seek any medical attention during the pandemic. Telemedicine advancements is the future to

providing faster and more efficient medical care to more patients.
