MINUTES OF INTERVIEWS FOR ACCOUNTS STUDENTS HELD ON 6th JULY 2022

INTERVIEW PANEL

Ms. P. Singana : Human Resources Student

Following the approval to recruit the Human resources manager to recruit accounts students
suitable candidates were sought externally from Great Zimbabwe University and Harare Institute
of Technology.

CANDIDATES
Four (4) candidates were shortlisted for Accounts students. Jessica Mukome did not attend the
interview so only three (3) candidates attended the interview on the 6 th of June 2022. The
following questions were asked in the interview.

INTERVIEW QUESTIONS

1. Tell us about yourself and why you decided to pursue the accounting profession?
2. What is the difference between accounting and auditing?
3. Name accounting standards which you think cut across many organizations?
4. What is the difference between an invoice and a receipt?
5. Why do you think the ACZ should engage you as an intern in our finance department?
6. What are your weaknesses and strengths?

PANEL’S ASSESSMENT

Thelma Chaparadza

Miss Thelma Chaparadza has the relevant qualifications, she demonstrated to be the best
candidate who exhibited vast knowledge about the job and its requirements. Her presentation
was very good and she was very articulate with responses. She has good communication skills
and she is confidence. She was very competent and suitable for the job. She is doing her degree
at Harare Institute of technology

Miss Thelma Chaparadza has the highest percentage score of 85.85% and she was selected as the
suitable candidate for accounting student position and she has an available accommodation.

Ronald Tobias

Mr Ronald Tobias has the relevant qualifications and young man who has an appreciation of the
job and suitable for the position as a student he articulated well with the interview questions. He
was very confident and knowledgeable. Mr Tobias was a good communicator, very short and
precise when responding to questions. He had the second highest score of 79% and he was
recommended for the job as the second accounts student.

Ronald is also able to cater for his accommodation.

Terrence Mlambo
Mr Terrence Mlambo was not confident and he lacks ability to make informed decisions and he
mentioned himself as a slow learner. He has no qualities of a good Accountant, his presentation
was very poor and he was not recommended for the job. His percentage score was 62.5%.

Jessica Mukome did not attend the interview.

INTERVIEW PANEL’S RECOMMENDATIONS

The panel recommended Miss Thelma Chaparadza for the post of Accounts student and Mr
Ronald Tobias since we want two students in the finance offices. To come up with the decision,
the panel took into consideration the following factors.
a) Miss Thelma Chaparadza and Mr Ronald Tobias have the relevant qualifications as accounts
students.
b) They were very articulate and knowledgeable.
c) They were very confident in their presentation and possess good qualities of an Accountant.
d) They were good communicators and they responded well in the interview.
e) The panel also recommended them because they are catering for their
accommodation.
