DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL RUBY PARK KOLKATA

SESSION: 2021-2022
SUBJECT: MATHEMATICS
CLASS – VI
TOPIC: WHOLE NUMBERS
 Whole number start from 0 and they are infinite (never ending).
 If two whole numbers are added, the result is a whole number.
 Result of subtraction of two whole numbers would be a whole number, if the first
number is greater than the second number.
 For any two whole numbers A and B, A + B is a whole number, but A – B need not necessarily
be a whole number.
 Addition and multiplication have communicative, associative, distributive properties,
while subtraction and division do not have these properties.

 Changing the order of adding two or more whole numbers will not result in a change in
the answer.
 A whole number added to zero will always be the whole number itself.
 A zero subtract from a whole number will always be the whole number.
 The product of two or more whole numbers is always a whole number.
 A whole number divided by another whole number need not always be a whole number.
It is a whole number only if the first number. Is greater and exactly divisible by the
second whole number.
