Questions:

1. What are the observations and reactions of the group towards the investors and the business

presenter? Comment on the characteristics, strengths, and weaknesses, etc. of the persons

involved.

--- Peter David Jones

Peter David Jones is the sole remaining original Dragon on the BBC's Dragons' Den. He

is a British entrepreneur, businessman, and reality television personality with interests in mobile

phones, television, media, entertainment, retail, and real estate.

On the other hand, upon watching the Dragons’ Den series entitled ‘Chances of Success

are Slim but Peter See Something l Brain Füd’, it can be notice that Peter David Jones himself

defines powerfulness as a business tycoon, just from the way he dressed, sit, and speak. And

after I watched the video, I was impressed on how he managed to speak confidently and

powerful at the same time. He also gives lots of suggestions and advice to the business presenter

Philip Udeh and Jess Gould that make him undeniably expert in business indeed.

And as for the Characteristics of Peter David Jones from the video, we’ve noticed that:

 Peter Jones is the passionate one and slickest among the dragons.

 Jones stands apart from his contemporaries because to his quick wit and excellent eye for

detail.

 Jones, like the other dragons, is quick to grasp a good opportunity, and his show

investments have led to several profitable enterprises.

 He has an openness characteristics, wherein he can easily appreciate things around him.
 In a corporate environment where money can be earned from a brilliant concept, he is the

ideal person to steer any company in the proper way.

We also have here some noted strengths and weaknesses of Peter Jones, as shown in the video.

Strengths of Peter Jones:

 Peter Jones always envision things to be reality.

 He can confidently express his opinions to others.

 He didn’t only commited to a common goal and make it happen, but also to himself too,

as a person.

 His perseverance, sheer determination and tenacity are his core characteristics as a

business tycoon.

 He said that relationship to people are the key, so he both cherishing business and

persomal relationships.

 Like any other business man, he is also responsible in his every actions.

 He mentioned that he uses his intuition as a guide to the right path.

Weaknesses of Peter Jones:

Peter Jones shared that his biggest mistake to his business is, he failed to look after the

most important thing which was the asset of the business. And this failure make him lost

everyhting he founded back then. So from this failure, he learned his lesson and start again. And

now, Peter Jones managed to be one of the most successful business tycoon in the world.
2. How does the group perceive the business proposal?

a. Proposed investment over business stake. Discuss.

The business presenter Philip Udeh and his business partner Jess Gould presented their

proposed product Brain Füd in the Dragons’ Den. They’re seeking a £50,000 investment and in

return for 10% of Brain Füd, but then Peter David Jones see something. He said that he likes the

brand and he thinks its really clever, but he also had seen similar products, so he thinks that the

chance of success for the Brain Füd is very tiny. And based on the video, Peter said that he likes

the taste of the product, so he offered £50,000 for 30%. Some of the Dragons’ Den investors are

shocked with Peter proposed investment, but Peter said that he loves a little bit of a challenge. So

from the proposed investment of the presenter of £50,000 for 10%, they’re both agree and

decided to take the offer of Peter, which is a business stake of £50,000 for 30%.

b. Business Evaluation. Discuss.

Brain Füd founder and creator Philip Udeh, said: “I struggle daily with chronic fatigue

due to Sickle Cell and have found sugar-filled energy drinks to be frighteningly unhealthy; I

wanted something that would help me feel more alive whilst actually doing me some good, but I

could not find a healthy energy drink in the mainstream – so Brain Füd was born.” Brain Füd

is the great tasting alternative to the artificial energy drinks, no added sugar or sweeteners, and

just sparkling water, real fruit juices, natural caffeine and B-vitamins was founded by Philip

Udeh with his business partner Jess Gould. They’re seeking for £50,000 for 10% of Brain Füd,

but then Dragons’ Den Peter Jones thinks that their chances of success are slim. Peter said that

he likes the brand and he loves a little bit of challenge, so he offered £50,000 for 30%. Peter’s

offer is 3 times more than the 10% proposed investment of the presenter. The presenter still tried
to change the offer to 20%, but Peter didn’t take it and said that since the chance of success of

that product is cery tiny, and if it didn’t succeed, he will lost his £50,000. At the end, business

partner Philip Udeh and Jess Gould finally decided to take the offer of £50,000 for 30%.

c. Business Negotiation/s (when offers are applicable/ available on assigned episode).

Discuss.

The negotiations between the business presenter Philip Udeh and Jess Gould with the

Dragons’ Den Peter Jones had been tough. The business presenter seeks £50,000 for 10% to 25%

of Brain Füd, but Peter said that it will be tough to compete with our existing energy drinks, so

he offered £50,000 for 30%. At last, the presenter both decided to take Peter’s offer.

d. Business Deal (as applicable/ available on assigned episode). Discuss.

After the negotiations, the business deal end with the business stake of £50,000 for 30%,

as offered by the Dragons’ Den Peter Jones. Peter said he loves challenges, that’s why he

decided to offer £50,000 for 30%. And when the presenters take his offer, he said that he is

already looking forward to work with Philip Udeh and Jess Gould of Brain Füd. With this deal,

Brain Füd is now starting to made its success, as it made available to any other stores or

supermarket around United States.

e. *If no negotiation(s) or deals were made on the episode, what is your standpoint? Do you

think the “sharks” or “dragons” made the right decision on rejecting the business venture?

State your reasons.

There have negotiations/deals happened bettween the business presenter Philip Udeh and

Jess Gould of Brain Füd, with Peter David Jones of Dragons’ Den. And I think the presenter

made a right decision to take Peter’s offer, because I agree to Peter that it will be tough to

compete with hundreds of existing energy drinks around the world. And I think it will be a good

opportunity for Brain Füd to accept Peter’s offer of £50,000 for 30%. And aside from that, if

ever they succeed, they will be able to develop brand awareness and make their business be one

of the most successful in the industry of beverages. Additionally, they will also be able to attract

more investors since Peter David Jones is a well known business tycoon in his time. And having

Peter as one of their investors, will may attract more investors for the Brain Füd.
