Hello Everyone.

I am here to present a welcome speech for Independence Day.

Today it’s our 77rd Indonesia Independence Day and we should feel proud to be a part of an
Independent nation that has freedom of speech, freedom to live life in our own way.

We do not have to follow anybody’s slavery.

But this was not the case 77 years ago when we were a slave to the Netherlands and Japan
Government.

On this day, the national flag was hoisted on this country by Dr. Ir. H. Soekarno.

Since then we have been celebrating Independence Day in every government department,
school, and college.

This is a day of pride and joy for every citizen of the country.

Value of Independence being independent means freedom to speech and freedom to

fundamental rights to each and every citizen of the country.

Independence is important to lead a life of freedom. In the absence of independence, we

would become a slave. 

All the people should value the independence which we have achieved and should never forget our
freedom fighters.

The citizens of an independent nation also hold responsibility towards it.

All the citizens of the country should realize their responsibility to build a nation of pride.

One should fulfil their responsibility by doing simple deeds such as keeping the roads and
surroundings clean, planting more trees, helping poor people in need, following traffic rules,
etc.

A responsible citizen is a valuable citizen.

Independence Day is also a day to show to the world the history of courage and bravery
which our country has achieved.

We should also teach our younger generations to respect our soldiers and also encourage
them to have a career in national security.

At last, I again wish you all happy Independence Day and hope together we can build a
wonderful nation.

Today on August 17th, 2022, our country celebrates the 77th anniversary of Independence
Day.
Every year on August 17th our country celebrates the ceremony to the celebrate the
Independence Day.
August 17th is a day where all the Indonesian people rejoice to recall the merits of the heroes
who have gained independence for all of us.
I can’t believe that time flies so fast and our country is growing fast too every year.
We are all lucky to be assembled today because of the merits of the heroes who have
defended our country since decades ago.
Do you still remember the names of the heroes who helped to release Indonesia from
colonialism?
There are a lot of heroes from every regions in Indonesia who are willing to die for the
independence of the Indonesian nation.
One of them is Bung Karno.
Do you know Bung Karno is? Bung Karno is the first president of Indonesia.
Bung Karno is the important figure in the struggle of the Indonesian people to achieve
independency.
He was the Proclaimer of Indonesian Independence (together with Mohammad Hatta), which
occurred on 17th August 1945.
Soekarno was also the first person to introduce the concept of Pancasila as the foundation of
the Indonesia, and he was the one who named it.
Of course Bung Karno assisted by his Indonesian fellows.
They were trying hard to release Indonesia from the colonization.
The independence of our country can never be obtained only by being lazy all the time.
Indonesian independency cannot be realized by only relying on one or two people.
Indonesian independency was achieved with the hard work.
Indonesian independency happened because of the unity of all Indonesian people all over the
country.
Sir, madam, and my dear friends, remembering how the efforts of our heroes to fight for our
independency, it is right for us to appreciate the independence Day by doing something
positive with the spirit of nationalism so that we can contribute something to celebrate the
independence Day.
The spirit and the high sense of nationalism can be realized in many ways, but the most
important thing for us as the students is to study well and not being just lazy.
We as the students have been facilitated by various technologies and internet.
It can bring positive impacts but also negative impacts for us.
The positive impacts are we can get a lot of knowledge and information.
We can learn many things from the internet, such as history lessons, biology, mathematics,
physics, social sciences, and also freign languages.
However it can also bring negative impacts such as playing games and also social media too
long. It all makes us become lazy.
Therefore, my dear friends, let us be the useful generation for the nation.
Competitive, active and imaginative generation for the name of our nation so we can give the
pride to our nation, so uor nation can be proud with us.
Sir, madam, and my dear friend, this is the end of my speech today.
I hope that my speech can be useful for all of us.
Hopefully this year, on the 77th year, Indonesia will always grow better.

Let us pray and praise Gratitude to Allah SWT who has given his mercy and grace to
all of us, so that we can gather in this room in a healthy state. Do not forget praise and
greetings we convey to our great prophet Muhammad SAW who always pray for his people
to the goodness and salvation. Thank you for the opportunity that has been given to me to
deliver a speech with the theme the role of young people in filling the independence of
Indonesia.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Today we are celebrating our country’s independence day. Did you know that 70
years ago people before us fought by sacrificing their lives and property to repel invaders
from our land. They fought very bravely in taking away and maintaining the independence of
our country from the colonialist’s arms and in the middle of rain of bullets that can shoot
them anytime. All that they had done is for getting the independence of our nation. Thanks to
them so that we all can feel the freedom until today.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
The independence that we can fell at this time does not mean that we have finished
the struggle. Instead at this point we have to fight to defend the independence of Indonesia.
We as Indonesian people, especially the young generation has a very important role for the
progress and peace of our country because the young generation is spearheading of our
nation’s struggle today. However, in reality, the young generation now mostly being
individualism, being hedonism, and has low nationalism spirit. Surely this is a huge problem
for our nation, what will happen to our nation, if the young generation is already lost values
of noble character and spirit to live and work together and help each other.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
The spirit of nationalism in the young generation is very important. The spirit of
nationalism can establish awareness and loyalty to the nation and the country regardless of
their ethnicity, race and religion. By having the spirit of nationalism we can establish
harmony among the people. That is why we must not remain silent with what happened to the
young generation of today. Therefore, the spirit of nationalism should we inject into the souls
of our young generation. By raising the encouragement to them and giving them motivation
to young. This is becoming important because the young generation is the next generation
who will be cantilever of Indonesian nation.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
By the nationalism spirit, we as the young generation can continue the heroes
‘struggle who have served us well. If they had fought with weapons, we struggled with books
and stationery to fight for Indonesian nation. We must always be active and always optimistic
to provide the best for our beloved homeland. That is all we can achieve by learning, having
achievement, scenting Indonesian name in the world and filling the independence of
Indonesia as the best as you can do with high spirit of nationalism and patriotism.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
We must believe that we as a young generate will be successors are able to give
change for this beloved nation. Good luck, work hard to be a better young generation for the
future of our nation and our own future.

thing for us (students) is studying well and may not lazy. We are (students) have been facilitated by

The positive impact of internet, are : we can get a lot of knowledge and information. We can learn

games and also social media, too long. It all makes us become lazy. Therefore, my dear friends, let us
be the best and useful generation for the nation. Competitive, active and imaginative generation for
the name of our nation. So we can give pride to our nation, so our nation can be proud of us.

This is the end of my speech. I hope that my speech will be useful. Hopefully, this year, (on the 77th
year of our nation's independence day) Indonesia will always grow better, year and year. Thank you
