Assalammu’alaikum Wr. Wb.

Good Morning all!

The honorable the judges and the committee of the competition and respected audience, today
on this occasion I stand in front of you all to deliver a speech about our Independence Day.
But before that I would like to introduce my self first, my name is Syaluna Aufa Suherman
from MTs. Assa’idiyyah Cipanas.
It's an honor to be back in the final today, thank you so much for giving me this precious
opportunity

On this historic day, we commemorate 78 years of the Independence of the Republic of

Indonesia. This is a day for us to celebrate our nation's struggle and victory in achieving
independence. This independence is not an easy thing to achieve, hundreds of years our
nation was colonized and lived under the control of the invaders.

They live everyday with fear and anxiety for the safety of their lives, hunger because of the
limited food they can eat, and also limited access to education for the natives. At that time
most of the natives did not have an equal position with those of the colonizers, so they are
forced to always obey and continue to serve foreign nations even though they are often not
properly employed.

Instead of prospering in their own country they have to live with fear and lack of freedom to
live. Until at the end the Indonesian is really determined to expel the invaders from the land
of Indonesia.

We must know that Indonesia's independence was not a gift from the colonialists but the
bloodshed and tears of the heroes. 78 years ago, our heroes fought hard to liberate Indonesia
from Dutch colonialism. They sacrificed their property, possessions, and even their lives in
order to achieve the ideals of independence.

Their struggle was not in vain. On August 17, 1945, Indonesia finally proclaimed its
independence. This proclamation is a starting point for Indonesia to build an independent,
united, sovereign, fair and prosperous nation. Even after proclaiming its independence the
invaders still tried to attack the Indonesian nation. As a young nation, it is very difficult for
Indonesia to face many state problems and re-engage in bloodshed in order to maintain
Indonesian sovereignty

Since independence, Indonesia has experienced great progress. We have built adequate
infrastructure, improved the quality of education, advanced the economy, achieved many
achievements at the international level and introduced the diversity of Indonesian culture.
Our duty as students is to fill this independence with positive things.

In this way, we will help develop Indonesia and fill Independence properly.
However, there are still many challenges that we must face, such as poverty, corruption,
terrorism, waste management, literacy interest, and pollution as now haunting Jakarta.
And there are still many social gaps, not all Indonesians have the same opportunities.
Independence has the meaning of freedom and equality but in reality nowdays not all
Indonesians have the same freedom and opportunities in accessing education, getting a
decent job, and environmental cleanliness. Is this all the independence that our heroes fight
so desperately for?Not at all.
On this day, let us all promise to build a better Indonesia, let us work together and realize the
dream of independence that our heroes fight for. Let's make this Independence Day a
momentum to increase our national spirit. Let's show the world that Indonesia is a strong,
independent and dignified nation. We as students of the nation's successors deserve to
continue that struggle by really studying hard in order to become outstanding students.

And our duty as citizens of Indonesia must be proud and mutual respect for the diversity of
Indonesian culture as our nation's motto is "Bhinneka Tunggal Ika" which means although
different but still one. One example of Indonesian culture is the clothes I wear today, this is a
traditional dress from West Sumatra, namely koto gadang, cultural diversity is the wealth of
our nation which is very proud as the identity of the Indonesian nation.

Long Live Indonesia!
