2. Think about an organisation you worked for. Mention 3 quality standards that can apply to
organisations and define them.
- Health and safety management: It is a systematic approach to minimize the risk of injury
and illness. It involves identifying, assessing, and controlling risks to workers in all workplace
operations.
- Auditing: It’s defined as the on-site verification activity, such as inspection or examination, of
a process or quality system, to ensure compliance to requirements.
- Environmental management: The aim is to provide reasonable assurance that the outputs
from a system will have minimal negative environmental impact and improved environmental
performance.
- Design of experiment: It is a statistical method for identifying the factors that have the most
influence over the quality of the end of the product.
- Benchmarking: It consists in generating ideas for quality improvements by comparing
specific project practices or product characteristics to those of other projects or products
within or outside the performing organisation.

- Project Manager: Lead the creation and updating of quality documentation, verify the
deliverables or products, authorize any remedial action, allocate resources to the process.
- RRHH: Make sure the hired people meet the requirements established in the quality system
(Education, experience, skills, etc). Assess the employees periodically about the work
environment, make sure all employees are inducted and get training (If they need it).
- Operators: Make sure to follow the instructions and process procedures, including checklists.
They must be aware of the quality system and keep themselves safe during production.
- Commercial staff: Know perfectly the product quality standards, make sure the costumers
are satisfied by acquiring the product, assess the costumer satisfaction, innovate the sale
process.
Ensure that detailed requirements and specifications are documented and agreed upon
stakeholders, understand the relevant quality standards for their industry, plan for quality assurance
and quality control activities, ensure that defects are repaired and monitored.
6. Name and briefly describe at least 3 methods/techniques that you would use for managing
continuous improvements:
- Flowcharting and process analysis: sequence of tasks and procedures, with an input that
initiates the process and an output that is the delivery that one wishes to make to an internal
or external customer.
- Control Charts: Method used to determine if a project is stable and has predictable
performance.
- Pareto Chart: is a column chart that orders the frequencies of occurrences, from highest to
lowest, allowing the prioritization of problems.
- Histograms: The histogram is a tool that shows the frequency of occurrence of a
phenomenon, observing the phenomenon of interest, it is possible to understand it better, to
act on it to modify it or to foresee how it will behave in the future.
