(1)Deck of cards
Focus: Rainbow facts
5 minutes

Activity:
Using a deck of cards, get Hamish to flip over 1
card at a time and state what must be added to
that number to make 10
(2)Two dice
Focus: Addition
5 minutes

Activity:
Using two dice, Hamish will roll them and add the
numbers together
(3) Two dice
bingo
Focus: Addition
5 minutes

Activity:
Using the bingo cards provided, (played with
another person). each person will alternate rolling
the dice, and add the numbers. If that number is
on their bingo card, l put a counter on top of that
number. Once all numbers covered, call bingo
(4) Fun facts to 10
Focus: Rainbow facts

Activity:
Bingo alternative
(5) Unifix cubes
Focus: rainbow facts with addition and
subtraction
5 minutes

Activity:
Using unifix cubes as manipulatives to assists,
practice subtracting from a range of numbers by
physically removing the cubes from numbers
(6) Number cards
Focus: Sequencing 1-50
5 minutes

Activity: Give Hamish 5 cards at a time and get


him to order them either largest to smallest
or smallest to largest.

*Make sure to give Hamish numbers that have


the same digits within them (46 and 26) as he
often mis-orders them
(7) Unifix cubes
skip counting
Focus: Counting in 2, 5, 10’s
5 minutes

Activity:
Using the unifix cubes, select which number
you’ll be skip counting by then as you add a cube
count up until a pre-prepared number of cubes.
If willing, try and count back down to zero
(8)Uno cards
Focus: Ordering numbers
10 minutes

Activity:
Deal two cards to each person and they are
required to create the biggest number they
can with those two cards. Using a point
system, who can get the most points in 10
minutes.

- Deal 3 or 4 cards
- Make the smallest number
(9)Flard: Place
value
Focus: Place Value
10 minutes

Activity:
Lay out cards according to their place value (e.g
all single digits together, all 10’s together and
all 100’s together)

Then ask Hamish to create numbers

Activity: Using flard cards similar to previous


activity but ask him to demonstrate adding
numbers. Start simple and increase
complexity.
