CHEMICAL REACTION INVOLVED

IN PHOTOSYNTHESIS

WHAT IS
PHOTOSYNTHESIS?

- Process by which plants

use sunlight, water, and

carbon dioxide to produce

oxygen and energy in the

form of sugar
TYPE OF CHEMICAL REACTION
Because energy from the sun or sunlight

is absorbed during the process of

photosynthesis, it is classified as an

endothermic reaction.
Endothermic reactions are chemical

processes that absorb heat energy from

the environment to create products.

our environment habitable for humans and other living organisms because it is the

primary source of oxygen in our atmosphere. Not only that, but the succession of

food productions are heavily reliant on photosynthesis and the rate at which it

occurs. Without it, our ecosystem would be unable to maintain a balanced level of

oxygen and carbon dioxide, and the carbon cycle would be impossible. As a result,

oxygen-dependent life would perish, and plants would be unable to survive. That

being said, chemical reactions in general play a significant role in our daily lives.

Chemical reactions allow us to grow, develop, and mature. Furthermore, chemical

reactions allow us to create food, medications, and technological advancements.

Therefore, it is critical that we gain a thorough understanding of how these

chemical reactions work in order to develop a more profound appreciation for our

environment and the desire to protect its inhabitants, including ourselves.
