Engineering?
- Learning how the nature acts is an essential knowledge before studying Environmental
Engineering. If Environmental Science is not taken before Environmental Engineering, there are
chances we, as engineers can destroy the ecosystem because we lack knowledge about how
the nature works. In order to avoid these mishaps, Environmental science is taken before
Environmental Engineering. We, as engineers and aspiring engineers solve problems, not
creating them.

4. Explain how does human beings are altering these biogeochemical cycles.
Human actions have generated significant disturbances, natural cycles must be researched and
Ecosystems have been influenced by biogeochemical processes such as pollution, oil spills,
and global climate change events. These biogeochemical cycles have only just begun to be

5. Define sustainability. How can you contribute to sustainable development with your
Sustainability is the study of how natural systems function. It takes into account how we might
live in harmony with the natural world around us, protecting it from damage and destruction. It
also refers to meeting our own needs without compromising the ability to future generations to
meet their own needs. As a consumer, I try to take account of my trash. I invest on a good water
bottle that would last me for a year or two instead of relying on disposable plastic water bottles.
Also, I go to thrift stores (ukay-ukay) to scout some clothing pieces I might like instead of buying
a new item. This helps me in financially and it also helps the environment as I am trying to
lessen the amount of clothes that are added to the landfill. I have also been very picky with my
beauty products. As much as possible, I look for the best product that meets my needs and
also, cruelty-free. Cruelty-free products are not tested in animals. After all, animals are still living
organisms and they have the right to live as what they should be.
