Assessment B Part 2 - Reflection Report Submission

Deadline: Week 13, Monday at 14.00 (UK time).


Total Marks: 30 marks.
Weighting: 20%

You are required to submit a 500-word (+/- 10%) reflective report via the Turnitin submission
link on Moodle. You should reflect on the Assessment B Part 1, the debate. This is not a
reflection on what the topic was about but the actual planning and experience of the debate
with focus on acquired and applied skills gained throughout the semester.

Student must reflect only on the process, activity and outcomes of the debate, not about the
theory or their personal view toward the debate topic.

Please complete and submit your work as a Microsoft Word document.

Marks are awarded on a case-by-case basis and include points on the following features.

Description: (10 marks)

 Length and structure of the debate.


 Topic and argument supported/not supported.
 What was prepared in advance?
 Key events during the debate i.e., heated discussion, fallacies identified, time used,
theory mentioned…
 Other descriptive points, mainly objective features to provide context to the reflection.

Interpretation: (10 marks)

 Issues identified (what did not go well) and reflected upon in a pro-active manner i.e.,
why, how, because etc.
 Identify positive aspects (what went well) and reflected upon in a pro-active manner
i.e., why, how, because etc.
 Application of skills learnt over the semester to debate features.
 Other interpretative points based on ‘descriptive’ features.

Outcome: (10 marks)

 Evidence of self-appraisal.
 Suggestions for improvement.
 How the experience has altered/improved skill base.
 Other outcome points based on skills learnt and their application to postgraduate
study.
Marking Criteria:

 0 marks - Inappropriate or incomplete work due to inclusion of irrelevant material and


absence of appropriate information.

 1-2 marks - Poor. Work shows limited understanding of subject matter, contains
mostly irrelevant material, poorly organised, lacking coherence.

 3-4 marks - Fair. Work shows some understanding of subject matter, contains some
irrelevant material but some signs of organisation and coherence.

 5-6 marks - Good but some areas can be improved upon or require further
explanation. Presentation/ideas/arguments are well organised demonstrating
cohesion but limited critical analysis.

 7-8 marks - Very good. Work is of solid quality showing competent understanding of
subject matter. Presentation/ideas/arguments are clearly developed and supported
with relevant literature with some critical analysis.

 9-10 marks - Excellent. Work of exceptional quality, showing clear understanding of


the subject matter.
