Objectives ● To identify each learner’s reading proficiency


level through the use of Phil IRI as the
assessment tool;
● To provide learners some copies of reading
materials on a weekly basis;
● To monitor the progress of each learner’s
reading skill;
● To help learners elevate their reading
proficiency through different activities in
fluency, vocabulary and comprehension;
● To make every learner a reader.

Basis/ Reference Pursuant to DepEd memorandum 173, s.2019
Hamon Bawat Bata Bumabasa (3Bs Initiative) and
Project GOALS in Reading 2.0, BIS decided to
implement project READING (Read, Enjoy and
Develop Interest in Reading) by giving them
different reading materials and providing them with
different activities that will be helpful for them to
develop fluency and interest in reading; bank new
words; and elevate their comprehension level so
they may become good readers and competent
individuals through the help and active participation
of their parents or guardians.

Highlights of the Activity • Identification of learners’ reading proficiency
through the use of Phil IRI
• Distribution of localized reading materials
• Weekly monitoring of learners’ progress in
reading
• Weekly engagement of learners with different
activities in reading to enhance their fluency,
vocabulary and comprehension
Issues and Challenges • Learners who do not have cellular phones
and internet connection were not thoroughly
monitored.
Actions Taken • We asked their parents to bring their children
to the school so we can assess their
progress.
