Product Advisory Note for 611, 615 and 620 series protection relays

Issue

We have received feedback, that the reasoning for securing the plug-in unit handle is not always completely
understood. Aligned with this feedback, the product installation manuals are further clarified from the
concerning parts.

The following concerns the 611, 615 and 620 series protection relays with the similar mechanical designs.
In case of 615 starting from the 3.0 version. After installing the relay plug-in unit into the relay case:

The handle must be locked or sealed to secure the mechanical performance under any conditions caused
by vibration, pressure, shock or bump, seismic activity or other equivalent circumstances.

Recommendations

Our recommendation is to evaluate your installations in the view if the mentioned securing improvement is
needed, then plan accordingly. Securing of the handle can be implemented also while the relay is in normal
service, no maintenance break will be required for this operation.
