The report seeks to make an assessment of Advance Medicos Limited network infrastructure
and systems regarding its expansion to ensure the accommodation of a larger number of customers and
realize its objectives and goals. The network system in place currently is outdated and requires
modernization through the use of recently invented technologies so as to alleviate the organization’s
efficiency. The report also proposes a particular solution that the company can implement to better the
efficiency of its operations. The proposed solution is clear and focused for the provision of a new, better
and improved network for the company in a bid to ensure improved accessibility particularly in regard to
issues of security for employees. The proposed system should be in a position to support various online
services and not just manually like the existing one. Besides, the awaited network infrastructure should
support videoconferencing between the headquarter offices and the various branches. Lastly, the report
will provide a list of recommendations for the implementation of the new system.

Background

The company in question is a major provider of healthcare services through the selling of its
healthcare systems. Advanced Medicos Limited as at the moment uses an old network of infrastructure
that is not able to meet the rising demands of patients and therefore needs to be upgraded in order to
fulfill the current customer demands. The company seeks to offer modernized services to its customers
through the provision of quality services that are web-enabled. Considering the significant growth that
the company has undergone over the past few years, there is need to upgrading to match the current
standards. AML has its offices located in two buildings that are adjacent, without any physical
connection, which makes the company largely rely on web-portal. Currently, the company faces
numerous challenges in its operations; challenges that will most likely continue being there unless the
network infrastructure is improved. In future, projections are that the network traffic will increase in
conjunction with the rising development of systems. The number of employees which is currently at 200
is expected to double in two years’ time. The new network to be developed therefore has to meet the
needs of both the system employers and developers as well.

Scope of the report

The report provides an outline of the structure of the organization as well as its purpose. Additionally,
the current network in AML will also be looked at. Further, different elements including hardware, users
and software components relating to the current network’s system will be discussed. The to-be-
implemented network system is being projected for the next five years in which it is expected to meet

Organizational description

The company, AML, is comprised of four chief departments which include production,
administration, marketing and software development. The primary aim for the organization is the
development of hardware systems required for the provision of services to its customers. A chief
executive officer heads the organization having a core responsibility of governing and seeing to it that
the goals and objectives of the company are timely achieved. In doing so, the CEO has to ensure full and
strict implementation of various strategies. All those heading the four departments in the company
must report to the chief executive officer.
