SPIRITUAL SELF

 It is an ongoing, personal life


journey, contextualized by the
belief in a Higher Being,
culture, relationships, nature,
and the discovery of meaning
in one’s life.
SPIRITUALITY
 It is the aspect of self that is
associated to an individual’s
process of seeking and
expressing meaning by
connecting self to significant
and sacred matters.
(Puchalski, 2014)
SPIRITUALITY
 “is a personal and private
beliefs that transcend the
material aspects of life and give
a deep sense of wholeness,
connectedness, and openness to
the infinite.”
(Myers and his colleagues, 2000).
SPIRITUALITY

 Therefore, spirituality focuses on the individual’s


connections to different aspects of one’s existence
including other people, nature, and to sacredness
and divinity. This is to answer one’s pursuit to the
meaning of life.

 It is something that is not


innate, rather develops
overtime through different
interactions of an individual-
personal, social and
environmental factors.
RELIGIOSITY

 It pertains to adherence to
one belief system as
agreed upon through
different traditions and
practices to be done.

 It is a formal attachment
to the set of beliefs,
values, and practices of
a particular religious
sect.

 The spiritual self is not just relating self with God and
other people, it is also about how people relate
themselves to nature.

should strive to be perfect, thus, even in times of
great loss and deep sorrow, finding meaning in life is
still possible.

 The meaning one attaches to experience may vary


from individual to individual. With this, individual
must discover the means to fulfilled experience.

which respond to how they respond to life events.
