TITLE
The Effectiveness of Water Filter in Purifying
the water used for Dish Washing

Introduction:
Water plays an important role for all plants, animals and
mostly human beings because we need it to survive. There can be no
life on Earth without water. Why water is important? Because about
60% of our body is made up of water. Our bodies use water in all
cells, organs and tissues to help regulate body temperature and
maintain other bodily functions.
Human can be alive even if we don’t eat for about a week
but not drinking in just 3 to 5 days, we will die due to dehydration. So
we consider water as an essential part of our daily life,that many times
we don’t stop to think where it is being source or the quantity of it.
Because even if Earth has 70% water on it, only 3% of it can be use
for drinking and in this case the water filter takes place. The
importance of water filtration is that it gives people access to clean
water that is free of contaminants and is a reliable sources of
hydration. Without it there’sa risk of becoming I’ll from contaminated
water or the alternative of drinking other beverages that may not be as
good for your health as purified water.

So that the goal of this experiment is to obtain the

effectiveness and if the Improvised Water Filter can purify the water
used for Dish Washing.

Hypothesis:
 If the Improvised Water Filter cleanse the water then the
water is purified.

Experimental Procedure:
The researcher used the following materials:
1 10g. cotton,1 1.5L plastic bottle,1 pc 3d face mask,4 pcs. rubber
band,1 pc. spoon,1 pair of scissors,1 pc. cutter,1 pc. empty jar, 1 pc.
jar's lid,1 pc. old cloth,small and big stones,gravel, powdered
charcoal,tiny chunks of charcoal,fine sand and the dirty water used for
dish washing.
For the procedure,the bottom of the bottle is been cut of
by a cutter. On the other hand,the both endings of the face mask is
also been cut by a scissor. The plastic bottle is been put upsidedown
into the empty jar. The face mask is been put inside the
bottle,followed by the cotton that served as the first layer. Powdered
charcoal is been scooped and been put inside the bottle and served as
the second layer. Sand is been put inside next to the powdered
charcoal and served as the third layer. Next,tiny chunks of charcoal is
been put inside for the fourth layer. Small stones as the fifth
layer,gravel for the sixth layer,big stones as the seventh layer. The
jar’s lid is been cut into a square and is putted inside the plastic bottle
to prevent erosion. The cap of the bottle is been put away. The cloth is
cut according to the size of the mouth of the bottle. Then it is been put
outside the mouth of the bottle and secured with rubber bands.
Lastly,the water used for dish washing is been poured inside and wait
until been filltered.

 The experiment showed that at first the color of the water used
for Dish washing is black,the odor smells like soap and the fiziness is
high. In the first 3 trials the color,odor and fiziness doesn’t change. In
Trial 4-6 the color change yellowish Black, had a bit of soap smell but
the fiziness doesn’t change.In trial 7, the color turns to yellow brown
and the fiziness goes moderate but the smell doesn’t change. In trials
8-10 the color again turns black but the odor and fiziness doesn’t
change. In Trial 11 the color turns to Gray,the other characteristics
doesn’t change. In Trial 12, the changes occur only for color cause it
turns yellowish brown. In Trial 13-14,color has only change,it turns
yellowish. In trial 15-17,the color turns yellow and the fiziness below
moderate but the odor doesn’tchange. In trial 18-24,the color become
clear yellow,the fiziness and ador doesn’t change. In trial 25, the color
become translucent,the fiziness becomes low but the odor doesn’t
change . In trial 26-30,the color becomes clear,it becomes Odorless
and the fiziness stays slow. In general, the water filter really is
effective in Purifying the water used for Dish washing.
Conclusion:
 The purpose of this experiment is to determine the
effectiveness and if Water filters can purify the Water used for dish
washing. In the first 3 trials the color of the water is black , the odor is
like Dish washing. In the first 3 trials the color of the water is
black,the odor is like Dish washing soap and the fiziness is high, in
the trial 7 the color becomes yellowish Brown, the odor smells a bit
soap and the fiziness drop to moderate but in trial 8,the color suddenly
turns Black, it is because of the powdered charcoal being desolve and
also because of the uncleaned materials. But starting trial 11 -30 the
color start to turn gray until it becomes clear, the smell becomes
Odorless when it comes to trial 27, and the fiziness starts to drop until
it becomes low. As I say the experiment is difficult because of the
uncleaned materials and at the same time disappointing especially in
trial 8 because I’m so excited in trial 7 then suddenly in trial 8 it turns
black. But I’m glad in the final trials it turns fine. So that, we should
used cleaner materials for much Good outcome. There should also
have patience, courage and acceptance to what the result will be…
