my eldest brother Brian because he
lives abroad. He’s thirty-one and
he’s a foreign correspondent for a
big national newspaper. He lives in
Hong Kong and writes news and
articles about China and other
Asian countries. He works 24/7. I
often get emails from his laptop
when he’s in an airport or on a
plane somewhere. I think he has a
terrible work/life balance. He plays

tries to eat healthy food, but he
doesn’t have a very good social life.
He’s married to his job – he

14: (sample answer) I started studying
English at my primary school in
Italy when I was six. Because of
this, my strongest point is
pronunciation. We used to sing
English songs and listen to stories.
It was great fun.
When I was older, I started listening
to English music and reading the
words at the same time. This
helped me to improve my
vocabulary and to understand
spoken English quite well. My
biggest problem is writing. I love
speaking but my writing is full of
mistakes, but I don't mind. The most
important thing for me is to
communicate.

anything worse than being famous.
Of course, I’d probably also be rich
and successful if I was famous, but
there are so many things I wouldn’t
like. I’d hate to be recognised
everywhere. I wouldn’t even be
able to go to the supermarket or the
cinema. I’d have no private life at all
– except with other rich and famous
people. The paparazzi would wait
outside my house and follow me
everywhere. They’d take photos of
me and my friends and they’d be
published in the newspapers and
gossip magazines. It must be
terrible to be famous.

In my opinion, technology will
continue to bring both positive and
negative changes to our lives. Most
people will be connected to the
Internet at home so more of them
will be able to work from home.
They won't have to travel to their
offices every day. This will reduce
the amount of traffic on the roads,
which will reduce pollution. On the
negative side, life will also get faster
and people will get even more
stressed. I hope that we’ll find a way
of dealing with this stress and be
able to live with technology in a
healthier way.
