the vehicle. Finish the procedure for each electrical key transmitter sub-assembly within 30
seconds. If the procedure for any of the electrical key transmitter sub-assemblies is not
finished within the specified time, perform the registration procedures from process 1 again.

(b) ECU code registration when not using the GTS:
HINT:
In the chart below, the numbers (1, 2, 3, etc.) in the "Procedure" column indicate the step
numbers. Perform the steps in numerical order.
Process Procedure Procedure Time Limit
1. Prepare vehicle as follows.
• Driver door is closed and unlocked.

• Driver door is closed.
*2: The registration preparation will be canceled if the following is performed:
• The engine switch is turned on (IG) or on (ACC).
9. KEY REGISTRATION (PROCEDURE "F")
(a) ECU communication ID registration:
SST 09843-18040
NOTICE:
• The ECU communication ID should be registered when the ID code box (immobiliser
code ECU) is replaced in order for the ECU communication ID to match.
• The engine cannot be started unless the ECU communication ID is registered.
• Make sure not to add electrical load by operating the power window control system
etc. during ECU communication ID registration.
• After registration, pressing the engine switch may not start the engine on the first try.
In this case, press the engine switch again.
• After the engine is started, clear DTC B2799 (code for ECM immobiliser
communication error) using either of the following methods:
- Use the GTS.
- Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal for 30 seconds.
1. Using SST, connect terminals 13 (TC) and 4

*1 DLC3
13 (TC) *2 SST
HINT:
• When the immobiliser system is operating normally and the door control transmitter
assembly is pulled out, the security indicator light blinks continuously.
• New key code registration can be deliberately ended by following procedure 1 or 2 below
when the battery is connected, and at least 1 key code for the master key has been
registered.
Procedure 1:
(1)Insert the door control transmitter assembly into the ignition key cylinder and turn the
GTS on.
(2)Follow the instructions on the GTS screen to end new key code registration.
(3)New key code registration ends.
Procedure 2:
(1)Using a master key that has already been registered, turn the ignition switch from ON
to off 5 times within 10 seconds.
• If key code registration fails during new key code registration, code 2-1 will be output
through the security indicator light. Trying to re-register an already registered door control
transmitter assembly will cause code 2-2 to be output when the door control transmitter
assembly is inserted into the ignition key cylinder. If the number of registered key codes
exceeds the maximum limit, code 2-3 will be output through the security indicator light.

(b) New key code registration when not using the GTS:
HINT:
• This procedure can be performed when no key codes are registered in the transponder key
ECU assembly.
• When a new transponder key ECU assembly is installed, key codes must be registered in
the transponder key ECU assembly.
• New key codes must be registered with the battery connected. The ignition switch can be
either ON or off.
HINT:
• Using this procedure, only one master key code can be registered. Refer to the additional
key code registration procedure to register other key codes.
• When the immobiliser system is operating normally and the door control transmitter
assembly is pulled out, the security indicator light blinks continuously.

• A brief outline of a key code registration procedure is shown above. For detailed information,
refer to the GTS.

assembly is pulled out, the security indicator light blinks continuously.
• If key code registration fails during additional key code registration, code 2-1 will be output
through the security indicator light. Trying to re-register an already registered door control
transmitter assembly will cause code 2-2 to be output when the door control transmitter
assembly is inserted into the ignition key cylinder. If the number of registered key codes
exceeds the maximum limit, code 2-3 will be output through the security indicator light.
Details of code output are shown in procedure "A".
(b) Additional key code registration when not using the GTS:
HINT:
• A maximum of 5 master key codes and 3 sub key codes can be re-registered.
• Additional key code registration will be canceled if each step is not completed within the
specified time.
• If the ignition key cylinder or the key cylinder set is replaced, remove the transmitter module
from the original master key. Then install the transmitter module into a new door control
transmitter assembly and use the new door control transmitter assembly as the master key.
If necessary, use this master key to register other door control transmitter assemblies.
NOTICE:
When the ignition key cylinder has been replaced, locking and unlocking of doors is
possible with the new master key's transmitter module (removed from the original
master key). However, the new master key will not be able to lock and unlock doors
through the door key cylinder. Keep the original master key. If the battery in the new
master key's transmitter module fails, the original master key can be used to lock and
unlock doors through the door key cylinder.
