With Covid -19 impacting individuals in many ways, I am Curating personal and sensory experiences via relationships and culture in order to heal oneself from the past to the present through natural and
organic ways that connect them back to the land before the pandemic. Through this a conception of natural healing and wellness is instigated. The Main typologies for me are Water therapy, Sustainable
education studios and my Exhibition spaces which are focused on the multi sensorial experiences that aim to heighten the senses to let a being fully immerse themselves with the spaces and begin this
process of healing for people to reconnect back to themselves.
• This is my Spatial
diagram. Here you can
see how the spaces
work and move from
one to another. The
journey starts at the
forecourt and then
users can pick their
journey. They can
either head straight to
the library or into the
coal transporter to
start their healing
journey. Each space is
unique in its own way
as it hosts amenities
specifically designed to
the programme’s
intention.

PLACE
• This strongly industrialised sector was largely
dependent on productivity, manufacturing, and
production prior to commissioning. The community's
attention shifted from production to consumption as a
result of this market driven focus. The area's rising
urbanisation reflects this greater pace and intensity. The
neighbourhood has been attracted in by this hub for
industry and shopping, which has boosted local
economies and increased density in the region.
• Today, the Power Station remains alone in a
massively industrialised modern world, serving as a
reminder of the once-proliferate industry. The area's
past provides as a foundation for Rozelle's evolving
typologies of businesses, sustaining the community's
prominent themes of manufacturing and consumerism.
This concentration results in a lack of humanisation and a
lack of empathy.

PEOPLE
Water +
Grounding
• "For every one of us, water is life. It's the
most important component. I'm not sure
where we'll stand if we lose that game.
Everything will perish if the water
disappears. Water has that kind of power.
It has a strong bond with the Land. All of
them were put together by Pukarrikarra
(the dreamer). There is just one life."

• August 1998, Bidyadanga, John 'Dudu'

The finding that body contact with the Earth's inherent electric
charge stabilises physiology at the lowest levels, decreases pain,
and stress, enhances blood flow, energy, and sleep, and
promotes higher well-being is known as earthing (also known as
grounding).

A body of water provides people with psychological

benefits that increase their sense of security.
Implementing water scapes inside the spatial scene
might enhance the cognitive experience that one
may have when engaging with the interior. Water's
advantages include improved cognitive health, a
sensation of escape provided by its acoustics, and
the fusion of a strong mind-body interaction.
Types of earthing or grounding

• Grounding comes in a variety of forms. All of them are centred on re-connecting with the earth. This can
be accomplished by making direct or indirect contact with the ground.

Taking a walk barefoot

• Walking barefoot is one of the simplest ways to connect with the planet. Allowing your skin to touch the
natural ground, whether it's grass, sand, or even dirt, may supply you with grounding energy.

Lie down on the ground

• By resting on the ground, you may enhance your skin-to-earth contact. It may be done in the grass near
the park or on the sand near the beach.

Submerging yourself in water

• Water, according to proponents of grounding, may be utilised to ground in the same manner as the real
soil can.

• To ground oneself, wading in a clean lake or swimming in the ocean. Instigates this fluid body – mind
state that allows grounding energies to flow through the body.

Other Grounding techniques include:

• mats for grounding

• blankets or sheets for grounding

• Socks that ground you

• Patches and bands for grounding

Acknowledge

Users will be able to connect to their inner spirits and selves as well as acquire a
deeper connection with the natural environment via interaction with the
element, honouring the land on which the site is located.

Engagement and Intimacy

Creating a conversation between the heritage site and its current setting.
Making new connections between the neighbourhood and the heavily
industrialised region will help to humanise the place and give it a sense of
identity. By recovering from the past and moving into the future in a post-
pandemic age, transitioning from industrial and consumerist typologies to
human-centered design focused on spiritual well-being to link individuals to
each other and land.

Heal

Creating environments that promote physical and mental recovery via the use of
water's inherent healing properties and Grounding therapies. The mind and
body will be rejuvenated with this comprehensive approach.

Accommodating demographics and other users who are frequently ignored and neglected within the community, especially
during the COVID-19 epidemic, will allow one to open themselves up to a profoundly sensory experience by facilitating these
intimate activities inside the space. The user's feeling of physical and spiritual well-being will be enhanced by creating a place
that is very responsive to them.
Healing and treatment are at the foreground, with a particular focus on users and rejuvenation. Community and individual
health will be revitalised by creating a sanctuary for healing from within and engaging in therapeutic practises. Minority groups
can find treatment and a sense of identity by using their connection to water and land in order to recover and heal.
According to studies and evidence-based research, persons with disabilities who use water therapy as part of their physical and psychological
rehabilitation reap tremendous advantages. Although the effectiveness of hydrotherapy for promoting physical and emotional well-being in people with
neurological illnesses has only been little investigated, these alternative techniques have shown to be effective.

Hydrotherapy's use in modern neurorehabilitation allows patients to be exposed to a sensory environment that stimulates the brain and bodily senses.
The physical properties of the water used for soaking or full body immersion, as well as its pressure. The influence of water on the body is aided by
hydrotherapy. Certain neural responses are triggered by the feelings on the skin caused by the presence of moving water.

Case studies with research on grounding suggests that Grounding techniques are useful for settling ourselves when feeling overwhelmed. If you find yourself stuck with a strong emotion.

Another, slightly bigger research project the impact of grounding on post-exercise muscular injury was investigated by Source. Researchers examined creatine kinase, white blood cell count,
and discomfort levels before and after grounding using both patches and mats. Participants' blood tests revealed that anchoring decreased muscular damage and soreness. This indicates that
grounding may have an impact on healing capacities.

A new study Source on grounding for pain relief and mood enhancement backs up this theory. Sixteen massage therapists alternated intervals of grounding with times of not grounding.
Physical and mental stress and suffering were regular side effects of their physically demanding work before grounding therapy. Pain, tension, despair, and exhaustion were all alleviated in
subjects following the earthing therapy.

• The eight locations within the Bays Precinct total 95
hectares of land and 94 hectares of Sydney Harbour,
including White Bay Power Station. Today, The Bays
Precinct encircles a portion of Sydney's famous inner
harbour and is bordered by long-established urban
settlements.

• Its waterways and the majority of its land are

controlled by the government and are mostly utilised
for port, nautical, and commercial purposes; a sizable
portion of its 5.5 kilometres of shoreline is inaccessible
to the general public. The White Bay Power Station,
which was constructed on the beaches of White Bay to
power Sydney's tram network, and the Glebe Island
Bridge are only two of the notable historical landmarks
in the Bays Precinct.
• The White Bay Power Station has been closed off and
neglected since it was shut down in 1983. The White Bay
Power Station has recently been utilised as a setting for
films including The Matrix Reloaded, Mad Max Fury Road,
and The Great Gatsby, among others. It frequently serves
as the backdrop for fashion photos, and online
photography blogs romanticise it.

• Beyond these temporary uses, Urban Growth NSW and

the Bays Precinct Team are looking for a novel or flexible
strategy to revitalise this significant portion of Sydney's
built industrial heritage while retaining the Anglo-Dutch
architectural style of its structures. Over a fifteen-year
period, it is anticipated that a master planning solution
will be found and implemented.
The Transformation Plan, which serves as the Bays Precinct's delivery
strategy document, covers a number of important concepts and
goals, including

• Capitalizing on the distinctive past of the Bays Precinct

• Open up the Harbour's edge and all of the coastline's waters to the
general public.

• Give public areas, White Bay Power Station, and Sydney Fish Market
planning top priority.

· Increase The Bays Precinct's ability to be a location that promotes

resilient, successful, and healthy lifestyles.

• Implement biological and environmental systems to enhance water

quality, eliminate persistent causes of water pollution, and promote
public enjoyment

UTS (2018)
• Here are some precedent studies that helped me
inform my decisions for the white bay power
station
• Green Square Library consists of a circular
subterranean garden with a spot for
outdoor reading, a children's circle, and a
"story tree." The underground library is
illuminated by a system of 49 round
skylights. This is a factor that I’m dwelling
upon as it allows for an internally heathy
environment creating mindfulness and
peacefulness.
• The White Rabbit Gallery is a
three-story hall allows site-
specific sculptural pieces to be
displayed while also bringing
the dramatic play of natural
light into the deepest areas of
the structure. Fluorescent light
tubes replace traditional
louvres in sculptural window
casements that replace the
warehouse's aluminium
windows, transforming them
into modern white installation
components that disperse
sunshine through the
building's surface.

• The Hus Museum is to be experienced and
sensed through physical spaces in the
museum and in the garden. This spoke to me
as it creates an immersive experience for the
user. Furthermore, the museum spaces are
composed of a series of circular forms that are
tangent to each other like a chain. They are
organized in a non-hierarchical, non-centric
manner. This spatial layout gave me the idea
to create a space with a journey like this going
from once zone to another by following a path
that leads you into the experience and that
way individuals can fully engage with the
space well.
Existing Site Conditions

• For innovation activities, it is critical to

concentrate on the structure of the
architectural forms as well as the spatial
qualities that distinguish the site. The site's
history and historical value are symbolised
by these bold shapes and forms.
• These rough and protective features
dehumanise the environment, making the
visitor feel uneasy and discouraging
engagement in the location. Through
revamping the forecourt with
accommodating shapes, this estrangement
between humanity and the society may be
repaired and re-established.

A tool with two essential components was created
using the White Bay Power Station as a quality driver.
The first was a set of requirements that had to be met
in order to preserve the Power Station's identity and
public access to it. Views, access to historical sites, and
public space were all assessed as basic needs for the
White Bay Power Station.
Given its strategic potential and historical significance,
the White Bay Power Station was supposed to be the
first property in the Bays West district to enter the
market. The Framework was created under exceptional
conditions with a hurried programme timeline from the
start of the project to the official announcement.
• Groups, including people with disabilities, can obtain treatment and heal and by
utilising this relationship to water and land via grounding. Increased mobility and a
sense of independence for the physically challenged will also help to alleviate the
emotional and psychological effects of a disability.
• For persons with Stress, sensuous and close interaction with water aids in the
strengthening of deep senses. The therapeutic effects of stimulating senses and
emotional experiences will link the community to the water and land.
• By enhancing this interconnectivity, the community's spirit and feeling of identity
will be enhanced. This close relationship will strengthen spiritual growth and
the connection to land and within oneself
Current

Within the Rozelle neighbourhood, there is a

chronic dearth of support programs and facilities
accommodating rehabilitation for persons with
disabilities, stress, mental health, and life
crisis. Alternative types of therapy,
notwithstanding their efficacy, are quite rare.

Issue

Using alternative supportive and therapeutic

methods has a wide range of health advantages. A
comprehensive approach may be attained by
focusing on well-being, relationships, and inner
harmony. Facilities that develop spiritual and
sensual relationships as a form of rehabilitation are
lacking.

Solution

Creating a sanctuary for treatment and healing

while honouring people’s connection to water and
land and building a bond with the location. By
fusing the events of the past to the present
and including the underprivileged with the larger
community, we are attempting to simulate the
essence of water and land
• The curving forms of my concept are inspired
by the site's contours, which led me to emulate
both the location and the nearby body of water.
The modules have a meaning and serve as an
identity to the land; thus, this fluid organic motion
provides the place structure and function.

• Another aspect that drew me in was the water

body, and I broke down the shapes that the waves
were forming to get a more comprehensive idea
of the forms, and they matched the contours, so I
decided to create this retreat for people to come
and heal themselves using natural means of land
and water that work together in grounding rituals

Sustainability
• Relationships and community connections are
essential for social and functional societies.
Wellbeing, equality, and variety will all be
preserved as a result of this harmony.
• Concepts about social sustainability are
especially important for minority groups'
privileges and quality of life, as well as offering
fairness and chances for individuals who live a
stressful lifestyle. Which is all the more
important in a post-pandemic atmosphere for
social cohesiveness, since it provides
neglected individuals with better mentaland
