Introduction
Girlfriend Collective is an athletic and loungewear brand that uses
recycled materials like polyester, fishing nets and used water
bottles to create its pieces. The company was founded by a
husband and wife duo, Ellie and Quang Dinh.

This are few products which are produce by company by recycling
water bottle.
The process contain of Recycled Polyester-Making Fabric-
Recycled Fabric-Cutting and Sewing.

Process transformation

1.The company sources its post-consumer water bottles from


Taiwan,a country known as “Garbage Island”
2.Bales of bottles collected from across Taiwan are weighed,
logged,steam washed to remove caps and labels, and then
separated by color.
3.bottles are stripped and sorted,washed,chipped,melted,cut,spun
into yarn,

4. All of yarn sent to knitting factory


5. 24 hours required for making enough fabric for 100 Pares of
leegings
6. The fabric is sent to dyed.

1 What operations strategies are important at Girlfriend
Collective?
Ans : Strategies are needed to focus on the decision making.

There are two types strategies

•Organizational strategy: strategies which are related to the entire


organization are called organizational strategies. The
organizational strategies should support the missions and goals of
the organization.
•Operational strategy: the strategies which relate to the
operational areas of the organization. The operational strategies
should support the organizational strategies.
The organizational strategy and operational strategy cannot be
made independently, the operational strategy should be linked to
the organizational strategy.
The various operational strategies are as follows:
• low cost.
• short processing time and on-time delivery.
• high quality processing and consistent quality.
• Innovation.
• Flexibility.
• Superior customer service.
• Convenience.

Collective at a competitive advantage or disadvantage?
Ans :The operational and organizational strategy led company
many advantages as:
 To achive the goal of organization by higher sales of
company
 As sales increase the production will increase and the cost
will became minimize
 At minimum cost maximum output can be generate
 As company will grow and innovation will take place
 By providing superior customer value the goodwill of
company will increase

3)What short and long-term impacts do Girlfriend


Collective’sbusiness practices have on the garment
industry? On recyclers? On communities? On profits?
Ans: G company is a garment manufacturing company which has
made sustainability its top priority. It manufactures leggings by
recycling RPET plastic bottles along with 21 percent spandex. It
also manufactures LITE leggings using the recycle fishing nets
and other nylon waste which is usually dumped into ocean. The
main aim of G company is to use sustainable manufacturing
techniques which do not harm the environment as well as take
care of the welfare of the workers.
4) How might sustainability measures for people and
production processes impact productivity? How can
companies balance a desire for ethics with productivity
concerns?
Ans : Productivity for a company is measured by taking out the
ratio of output to input. Here output means the products and the
services produced and the inputs includes the raw materials,
labor, and other raw materials. For higher productivity, the
companies prefer low-cost strategy, because for higher
productivity the cost of producing the output should be low.
Sustainability means using the resources in such a way that it
does not harm the environment and the ecological balance which
help in supporting the human beings.
