● what is Trello?
Trello is widely known for being one of the easiest project management tools to pick up
and start using. Its no-nonsense design makes for a short learning curve. Trello is also free, to
an extent. For the purpose of creating and managing small-scale projects with a small team, the
free version should be enough. You can always upgrade to a paid tier later if you decide you
need more for your project.
Trello is an intuitive tool that helps your team manage any type of project, workflow, or task
tracking activity. Add files, to-do lists, or even automated processes: Customize it all to fit the
way your team works. You just need to register, create a board and get started!

● History of Trello
- Trello launched at TechCrunch Disrupt in September 2011 with web and iPhone apps.
- In July 2014, Trello spun off from Fog Creek to become Trello, Inc. The company raised
$10.3 million in a Series A funding round led by Spark Capital and Index Ventures. Trello
has over 4.75 million users.
- In May 2015, Trello expanded internationally with software localized for Brazil, Germany
and Spain.
- In early 2017, Trello was acquired by Atlassian and has since opened a new chapter in
the mission of improving team performance everywhere.

There are 3 basic functions of Trello: board, card, and list.
● The first thing we have to do is create a Trello account. This step is very simple for
beginners, then they just link their Gmail account automatically and now Trello is ready
to use.
Next step is to create a workspace for a new project. Information can easily be lost or
misunderstood as it is sent through a variety of tools such as email or spreadsheets. The
Workspace is the navigation hub for the team, where everyone can access all the Teams
Workspace boards, members, and views. In Workspaces, you get all the context you need to
effectively contribute to your team's collective effort.
Once the space is open, users can easily use those workspaces to brainstorm ideas, organize
lists, to-dos, add documents and even link from other applications.

● How to create a new Boards

Click on “Create new board” then you’ll see an overview of your starred boards, recent boards
as well as your personal boards
For this guide on how to use Trello we figured it’d be weird to use a template, so we’ll be
working from scratch. However, we do want to take a moment and talk about the many, many
Trello templates you can pick from.

● Adding list
After a board is created, there are a blank field. The board is arranged two ways, horizontally
and vertically. Horizontally, it’s ordered using lists, and each list is organized vertically through
cards.

What lists and cards stand for is up to you, but for beginners we’d recommend you use cards to
represent tasks, while lists stand for the stage they’re in, let’s call that “to-do,” “doing” and
“done.” You make a list in Trello by going to the blank, see-through bar that says “add a list” and
clicking on it.

● Adding card
Adding a card is similar to adding a list: in the list you want to create a card in, just click “add a
card.”

● Add team member

Before adding anybody to a card, though, you need to invite them to the board, which you do by
going to the top of the board, just above the cards, and hitting the “invite” button next to your
picture or initials.

Notion is incredibly strong
when it comes to taking
notes and customizing your
notes as well. It even allows
you to create databases
and allow you to do
calculations on those

Now Notion also has a team
interface and allows you to
assign people and add them
to different areas. I would just
say, it's not nearly as strong
when it comes to reminders
and keeping everyone on the
same page.
Customization Within Trello, we can
customize certain elements.
If we use a particular power-
up we can add custom fields.
And what that allows us to do
is add check boxes and text
boxes and other things to our
cards to complement what is
already baked in here within
Trello.
Integrations Trello has native
integrations to a host of
third-party services. We
need to go to our power-up
section to see the long list of
power ups and integrations
and ways in which we can
communicate
back and forth with other
applications.
And it's hard to find a missing
major application
whether that's a social media
platform, whether that's a
Microsoft or a Google
product, whether that's a
Customer Relationship
Management
or some other marketing or
other project management
tool, Trello integrates with
most things.
Mobile app In fact, the look and feel is
almost identical to the web
experience or your desktop
experience. Everything that

when it comes to navigating

version and you can do an
awful lot with just that free
unpaid version. However, if
you're wanting to collaborate
with others,
get unlimited power-ups, and
really make use of the system
you're going to want to
upgrade to business class
which is currently 9.99 per
month.
Notion also has a free version
which is called its personal
version. Although you can
add a limited number of
guests to join you. But what I
really like about Notion is that
they have a personal pro at
only $4 a month. If you do
need to upgrade and
collaborate
with more team members, a
more business class version,
team version is $8 a month.

So which one is better? The answer is completely dependent on how you plan to
use each app. Trello is awesome at project management. Notion is a great all-around
tool that allows you to accomplish a variety of things, not just project management. If
you are looking solely for a project management tool, Trello is probably the better bet.
However, if you are looking for a tool that can do a variety of things well Beyond just
project management, Notion is likely to fit the bill.

Trello is the perfect tool to assist classroom learning or independent research. Teachers

learning templates help students stay on top of their assignments or work together to organize
and deliver on group projects.
