Welcome to this guided project about how to create charts
and dashboards using Google sheets. My name is Ishita, and I will be your instructor for this project. This project is for people who are interested to know how to clean your data sets and create effective charts and dashboards to visualize these data sets. I'll teach you step by step, how to clean raw data, perform basic functions and formulas, create basic charts, find out duplicate data and do some advanced analyses. You should be familiar with how Google Sheets work to get the most out of this project. Charts, graphs and dashboards elevate your data by providing an easy to understand visualization of the numeric values. While the terms, charts and graphs are often used interchangeably, they are slightly different. Graphs are the most basic way to represent data visually and typically display data point values over a duration of time. Charts are a bit more complex as they allow you to compare pieces of a data set relative to the other data in that set. Charts are also considered more visual than graphs, since they often take a different shape than the generic x- and y-axes. Dashboards are used to showcase data in fun, dynamic visualizations. The easiest way to digest data is in the simple, clear cut visuals. We will also learn which chart or graph to use, in which situation. An important rule of thumb to remember in spreadsheets is that you must be able to interpret a chart or graph within 10 seconds of looking at it. If it takes you more time to interpret a chart, it is probably not the most effective representation of that particular data set. Let's take a look at what you will accomplish by the end of this project. By the end of this project, you will be able to create effective charts and graphs and a dynamic dashboard to re present your data. On the right of your screen, you will see my screen and throughout each video, you will watch me work on each step. On the left of your screen, you will get a cloud desktop with all of the required software preinstalled and this will be your workspace for the project. This set up will allow you to follow along the instructions Pause you video if you need some more time to complete a step, and whenever you're done, continue with the video. You could also change the playback speed of the video if I'm going too fast or too slow. Typically, when you try to access Google sheets, it requires Gmail account. If you do not have a gmail account, you can set one up by going to gmail dot com and creating a new Gmail account with your credentials. Let's begin. So go ahead and click on Google Chrome on your screen on the left. In there, go to sheets dot google dot com press enter, and this will bring you to this particular screen. Right here, Enter your email I D or your phone number. Go to next. Put in your password and then sign in to Google sheets. If, however, you do not have a Gmail account, you may go to create account right here, click for myself, Once you click on that, you can then create your Gmail account. So! sign in with your actual credentials and I will see you in the next task where I will show you how to perform basic functions on data within Google sheets. Thanks.
