ASSUMPTIONS

Ø TBM break-in soil treatment and installation of dewatering deep wells will be carried out
concurrently with the capping and bracing beam and shall be completed with 1st stage excavation.
Ø Construction of capping beam shall be completed and 80% of concrete strength fc28 (C30/37) shall
be achieved in each compartment prior to starting its excavation.
Ø Surface pumping will be installed within each compartment during its excavation with sumps and
drainage trenches to collect the ground water. In addition deep wells may be installed inside the
compartments (mainly 1 & 2) until external dewatering system is in operation.
Ø Excavation of any compartment shall not start until the capping beam of the adjacent
compartment/s is completed.
Ø Excavation unbalance on either side of cross-walls between adjacent compartments shall not
exceed 2m (see Figure 2).
Ø Soil improvement shall be performed below level -5.11 to have adequate bearing capacity for
construction of the bracing beam.
Ø Ground water monitoring instrumentation such as slotted pipe and vibrating wire piezometers shall
be installed prior to dewatering (stage 2 excavation).
Ø Topographic survey points shall be installed on the top internal edge of both capping and bracing
beam according to the monitoring & instrumentation plan prior to dewatering (stage 2 excavation).
