converter and retarder, gear ratio for 5 speeds forward and 1 reverse. Robust
and reliable unit improving considerably the comfort of driving.

1.3.2 Transfer gearbox

Steyr, type VG 2000, 2-speed transfer gearbox, with differential lock.

1.3.3 Axles

Welded design, made of high-tensile fine grained steel and

demanding low maintenance.

1st axle : single tyres, steerable and driven

by planetary gears in hubs,
differential lock for traverse
locking.

2nd & 3rd axle : single tyres, steerable,

non-driven.

4th axle : single tyres, non-steerable,

non-driven.

5th axle : single tyres, steerable,

driven by planetary gears in hubs;
differential lock for traverse and
longitudinal locking.
LTM 1300/1 / 3

6th axle : single tyres, steerable,

driven by planetary gears in hubs;
differential lock for traverse
locking.

The best "rough-terrain condition" is obtained by engaging the transfer gearbox

to the rough-terrain stage. Additionally, the longitudinal differential locks of the
transfer gear and the 5th axle as well as the traverse differential lock of the axles
1, 5 and 6 can be activated. (Drive 12 x 8 see item 4.3).

1.3.4 Drive shafts

All drive shafts are maintenance free with 70° cross gearing. Only 4 connecting
bolts, resulting in considerably faster assembly and disassembly.

1.3.5 Axle suspension NIVEAUMATIC

The guide of all axles is optimized by longitudinal and lateral steering rods. The
axles are hydropneumatically suspended by maintenance free hydraulic
cylinders, adjustable in height, and can be locked hydraulically. Generating axle
pairs, the axles can be suspended either independently or with axle load
equalization, depending on the driving requirement. Two driving conditions are
preset and can be remote-controlled from the carrier cab:

Program 1.1
For supporting the crane. All axles are blocked and axle load equalization is
activated between axle 1+2, axle 3+4, and axle 5+6.

Program 1.2
For driving with working equipment on even ground.
All axles are blocked and axle load equalization is activated between the axles
1-4 and 5+6.

Program 2
For driving on roads. Suspension of all axles is activated.
Range of suspension+/- 150 mm.
The total vehicle can be raised by 150 mm in order to improve the fording power,
or lowered by 150 mm to improve the vertical clearance.
For driving along slopes the entire vehicle can be inclined laterally by +/- 9°.
Due to the optimal hydropneumatic suspension, the lateral stability of the crane
is granted in curves.

1.4 Steering

ZF semi-integral power steering with 3 hydraulic pumps (dual circuit system).

Two pumps are driven by the engine, one additional emergency steering pump is
driven by the axles, thus assuring steering of the vehicle in case of a failure of
the engine-driven pumps and safe stopping of the vehicle. The axles 1, 2, 3 as
well as axles 5 and 6 are steerable. The steering corresponds to the regulations
70/311 ECE.
LTM 1300/1 / 4

Hinweis:

Remark:
• Pressurization of the tensioning ram (e.g. 14 bar) is always dependent of the configuration:
In accordance with the configuration, the angle position of the boom (e.g. 70°) which has to be approached is
indicated in order to comply with the parameters of the configuration program „mounting of tele guy“.

• Dismantling of the TA:

During the retraction of the boom, the solenoid valve -Y125 is energized in order to prevent the obliteration of the
max. working pressure of pump 7 (pressure stage 2, -Y2) for the pressurisation of the guy winch by the DBV (D2,

GRUNDLAGEN DES LSB-DATENBUSSYSTEMS

(Liebherr System Bus =LSB)
Allgemein:

BASIC CONCEPT OF THE LSB DATA BUS SYSTEM

(LSB - Liebherr System Bus)

1 GENERAL

The automotive industry employs increasingly bus systems in order to reduce manufacturing
costs. Various users (actuators, sensors or other LSB users) are interconnected by a data line.
This excludes cost intensive wiring work and reduces the number of plug-and-socket
connections frequently liable to failures.
Each bus user is provided with its own intelligence in form of a microcontroller.
A communication between the individual users is realized by the bus.

receiver receiver receiver receiver

address1 address2 address3 address4

user 1 user 2 user 3 user 4

e.g. CU 0 e.g. angle sensor e.g. length sensor e.g. hoist limit switch

The above fig. demonstrates the communication of the individual bus users by an example of
a simplified bus circuitry. The switches represent the transmitter function, the lamps represent
the receiver. Each user has its own address which is available just once within the system.
The user 1 (CU0) has the address 1 and a master function, the user 2 (angle sensor) has the
address 2, etc. A maximum of 30 users can be connected to the bus.
The bus line is fed by a constant power source with 300 mA. Its object is to supply a limited
current of 300 mA against frame in the event of a short circuit. In order to ensure that the
individual users come to an understanding with one another, each of them should speak or
understand the same language.
In respect to the above example, this language could be the Morse alphabet.
When the system is switched on, the power source receives 24 V and supplies the bus line.
All receiver lamps light up. Each user is activated. The user 1 with the address 1 (master
function) starts to address the user 2 by actuating its momentary-contact actuator by the
Morse code. All users receive this message. The receiver lamps are flashing. User 2
recognizes that it is being addressed by decoding the message and returns its reply by
actuating its momentary-contact actuator.

Busanpass-Schaltung verarbeitet.

BASIC CONCEPT OF THE LSB DATA BUS SYSTEM

The manner according to which the communication on the line takes place is defined by a
transmission protocol according to which all users operate.
When user 1 has received an answer from user 2 (software handshake), it can address
another user or enable the bus for other users.
In that case, user 1 switches itself into the listening mode and another user occupies the bus.
The transmission speed adapts itself automatically to the user with the lowest transmission
speed (baud rate).
In practical operation, the lamp and switch are replaced by a power transistor and comparator
in the bus interface circuit.
The activation or evaluation of the bus signals is performed by a microcontroller which
processes the TXD (transmitter) or RXD (receiver) signals of the bus interface circuit.

Busankoppelung:

reagiert dann applikationsgesteuert

2 BUS INTERFACE

application

In case of the 2-wire system, the power supply of the application electronic (sensor) is
performed by clocked bus signals. If the bus signal is ”high”, the current passes via the fuse
F1, through the diode V1, to the storage capacitor C1. The capacitor is charged by the bus
voltage (24V). By means of this voltage, the connected electronic modules can be fed.
If the bus signal passes to ”low”, the diode prevents a discharge of the capacitor. The voltage
divider R1, R2 determines the LOW threshold of the connected comparator, which transforms
the digital bus signals into defined switch signals. The bus signal is always greater or smaller
than the signal at the negative input of the comparator. The comparator is switching according
to a defined manner and transmits this signal to the application electronic.
The operating point of the ”low-high” transition is defined to 1/3 of the bus supply voltage. The
switching hysteresis is between 1/3 and 2/3 of the bus voltage. The transmitter (TXD) consists
only of a power transistor which is short-circuiting the bus signal against the frame. Since the
bus is fed by a constant power source, a defined current of 2A passes via the transistor to the
frame. The information, which is transmitted on the bus line, consists of a pulse train of high-
low signals.
All bus users connected are hearing this information simultaneously. If one of the bus users is
defective, which would cause a short-circuit on the bus, the bus will not be operational.
The application of 24V directly to the bus line causes the fuse F1 to respond. The defective
user will be separated from the Bus. A new system start recognizes, that the defective user(s)
do not respond and thus reacts application-controlled.

3 BUS PROTOCOL

The serial data protocol, explained with the Morse code in the example, consists of a certain
number of pulse trains in practical operation. The information is transmitted within a 10 bit
wide data format, in the following referred to as character frame. Each frame starts with a start
bit, followed by 8 data bits and ending with 1 stop bit.
The users connected are synchronized by the break signal.
The break signal consists of one start bit, the following 8 data bits and 1 stop bit are low. An
attempt to synchronize the bus users can be recognized by an equal flicker of the bus LED on
the input board (bus interface circuit). (The bus master is transmitting break characters).

The communication on the LICCON system bus can take place by 7 different types of
messages:

1. TRANSMISSION OF A COMMAND WITH ANSWER

The master transmits a command and a data block of variable length to a slave.
The slave executes that command and returns an answer

2. TRANSMISSION OF A COMMAND WITHOUT ANSWER

The master transmits a command and a data block of variable length to a slave. The
slave executes that command but does not return a confirmation (e.g. commands to all
bus users)

3. INQUIRY WITH ANSWER

The master transmits an inquiry to a slave and expects a certain answer. (this is
specially designed for a quick scan of 1- or 16-bit sensors)

4. 1-BIT ANSWER
The slave returns a 1-bit answer (e.g. hoist limit switch – lift top)

5. 16-BIT ANSWER
The slave transmits a 16-bit answer
(e.g. digitalized analog-value length sensor)

6. BLOCK ANSWER OF VARIABLE LENGTH

The slave returns a data block of variable length to the master

7. SYNCHRONIZATION (BREAK SIGNAL)

The master or the slave can transmit a BREAK signal in order to signalise an error
during the communication. The running communication is terminated and all users are
synchronized.

Funktionsweise:
Der Meisterschalter ist als kombinierter LSB-
Aktor/Sensor ausgeführt.
Mittels speziellem LSB-Treiber kann dieser sowohl
Daten vom Master empfangen (Aktorit) als auch
Eingangsdaten (Sensorik) an den Master zurück-
senden.

Aktor: Empfängt Signale vom Master (z.B.

S1 - Handgas Motor Zentraleinheit), wandelt diese um bzw.
19 S2 - Schnellgang
führt diese aus.
S3 - Signalhorn
T - Totmannschalter
Vib.- Vibrator (Option)

LSB MASTER SWITCH

Control transmitter / master switch

Mode of operation:

The master switch is a combined LSB

actuator/sensor.
By means of a special LSB driver it can receive
data from the master (actorit) as well as return
input data (sensoric) to the master.

Actuator: Receives signals from the master

(e.g. central unit), transforms or
executes those.
Sensor: Transforms the control lever signals,
entered by hand, into bus signals
with the aid of the control electronic
and a processor, and transmits those
to the bus or to the master.
If the transmitter is interrogated in the
traditional manner, it returns its input variables
like a normal LSB sensor. Actuator data can be
transmitted to the transmitter by means of a
special message. Those are accepted by the
transmitter and its input data returned to the
master..

Schnittdarstellung: Signalverarbeitung und Sicherheit:

1 Grifftasten Die Auswerteelektronik im Meisterschalter ist
redundant aufgebaut, d.h es sind zwei
Messspulen für eine Steuerrichtung, z.B.

Mikroschalter
Diese Spulen werden von zwei getrennten
Auswerteelektroniken abgefragt und das Ergebnis
miteinander verglichen (Selbsttest).
Eine Auswerteelektronik erzeugt die Richtungs-
signale XS-, XS+, YS-, YS+.
Die andere Auswerteelektronik gibt über ein
3 Kreuzgelenk
Interface die Bussignale weiter.

Die Ausgänge der Richtungskontakte werden in

der Auswerteelektronik der Bussignale verglichen.

Due to the different wiring of outputs P0 and

P1 to frame, it is possible to control the cut-off
delay of contacts XS-, XS+, YS-, YS+ by
different periods.

P0 P1 X Y

Signal processing and safety:

The set-up of the evalutation electronic in the

master switch is redundant, i.e. two measuring
coils for one control direction, e.g. YS+, are
existent.
Those coils are interrogated by two separate
evaluation electronics and the result compared
with one another (self-test).
One evalutation electronic generates the
directional signals XS-, XS+, YS-, YS+.
The other evaluation electronic transmits the
bus signals via an interface.

The outputs of the directional contacts are

compared within the evaluation electronic of
the bus signals.
In case of unequal signals, a non-tolerable
error is generated and transmitted to the
Liccon via the LSB.
The input signals are transmitted to the ZE via
the input board as before.
