Reference: pp BRM 6 – BRM 19
Answer the following questions:
1. Describe the two principal parts of auto body construction.
Frame Body
The structure of frame body comes from itself frame and body. In this type of vehicle
construction, you will notice that it is able to separate the entire frame from the body. It is
commonly found in trucks and off-road vehicles because it provides higher ground
clearance. This design is more durable because the frame is made up of large and
durable steels to support the entire vehicle.
Uni-body
The structure of the uni-body vehicle is made up of pieces of steel that are joined together
by welding to form a frame. It is ideal for normal vehicles because although it is also
durable it is not designed to carry heavy loads. It provides low ground clearance ideal for
roads and daily use.
2. Explain the following
a. Front Body Construction
The front body construction consists of a subframe on which it is turned double cross to
absorb the impact and support the weight of the vehicle.
b. Center Body Construction
The Center Body Construction is where it occupies a large part of the vehicle frame.
