The Seminario de San Jose Library, otherwise known as Biblioteca, is home to

hundreds of philosophy and theology books. The word Biblioteca is the Spanish
translation for the English word Library. For decades, it served as a repository of
knowledge for seminarians, clergy, and academes alike providing resources and
services in a variety of media to meet the need of seminarians for education and
information.
The Biblioteca is located at the Third floor of the High School building.
Upon entering our library, the first stop is the Librarian’s desk. Here you can ask
questions about books you are to borrow and shelf sections on where to find them.
The Biblioteca have about 70 square feet area where sections about researches,
philosophy, theology, and formator’s book collections are situated.
The Philosophy section of the Biblioteca is a growing information platform of the great
thinkers through time. It provides primary access to primary texts in English translations,
secondary literature, exclusive articles, and encyclopedia entries. Through carefully
selected collections of the original work and critical reception of key thinkers, it offers a
breadth of coverage across the history of philosophy and cutting-edge contemporary
thought.
The Theology section, in the same way, contains hundred of books that are appropriate
for biblical and theological study. Biblioteca also holds books and references fit for the
life of a future priest, catechesis, and some books in Canon Law.
At the heart of the library are the study areas where students can make academic
discussions and work on their papers or research works. On the far side of the library
are the three computer sets readily placed for researches and academic works.
Some of the unique holdings of Biblioteca are the prized books of the late Vicar
Apostolic of Palawan, Bp. Gregorio Espiga. Here Biblioteca shelters the oldest Spanish
Dictionary in Theology of Bp. Espiga published in 1847 in Madrid, Spain.
With all the teeming books at our reach, Puerto Princesa Mountain range is a perfect
view for a cozy read and study.
Beyond helping seminarians learn, research, and pursue truth, the Biblioteca is
dedicated to expanding knowledge and intellectual exploration in philosophy and
theology in Palawan.
