INSTRUCTIONS FOR INTERNAL ASSIGNMENT

a) Submission of Assignment is Compulsory. If Assignment not submitted,such


a students shall be given ZERO (0) marks.

b) Students have to pass individually total 40 marks in each subject, written


exam 80% and in Assignment 20% weightage.

c) Assignment is compulsory only for the subjects Student appearing for Exam.

d) Good handwriting and neatness shall be rewarded appropriately while


evaluating.

e) Assignment received after due date will not be accepted.

f) It will be responsibility of student to appear or not to appear for the written


paper if he / she has NOT SUBMITTED ASSIGNMENT in time as per
instructions. IIIE shall not be responsible for consequences.

If students still have any doubt they may email their queries to Controller of
Examinations, IIIE.

The Internal Assignment for Preliminary, Section-A & Section-B will be required to be
submitted by those students appearing for November 2022 exam. All eligible students are
hereby directed to submit the completed Internal Assignment for the subjects they are
appearing for November 2022 exam on or before 25th September 2022

Assignment is important aspect of examination. It is obvious that if you get good


marks in assignment your overall percentage shall improve. The weightage for the
Internal Assignment will be 20% of the total marks in respective subject. Internal
Assignments are attached below.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR INTERNAL ASSIGNMENT SUBMISSION

1. Please write carefully your Name, Student membership number, Subject name on
each Subject Assignment. Please stick a label (Membership Number and Subject
Name) on the note book cover page.

2. It is advised that assignment should be written in 40 pages, A4 size ruled note


book (soft cover). It will avoid the problem associated with spiral binding and
steppling. All assignments to be separately submitted for each subject in a
separate note book. Write down on both sides of the papers.

3. The fees for Internal Assignment will be Rs.200/- per subject. This is to be paid
through Demand or Online only (Cheque payment will not be accepted) D/D drawn in
favour of Indian Institution of Industrial Engineering, payable at Mumbai and sent
along with Assignment. Write your name and membership number on the back side of
the Demand Draft, Online payment details transaction should be attached with
assignment. Bank details is given below.

4. Solve the questions as per instructions (do not leave any questions or sub questions).
Detailed answers are expected. Keep sufficient gap between answers of different
questions.

5. The paper should be written neat and clean. Leave left margin, top margin and bottom
margin. Write up should be legible. Solve all questions sequence wise (from 1 to 8 in
ascending order).

6. The expected length of answer shall depend upon the nature of the question.

7. Answers shall include the definition, Diagrams, Tables, examples, etc. depending on the
nature of question. Do not waste your time in decorating assignments.

8. IE005: Engineering Drawing & Computer Graphics assignment, student may use drawing
sheet.

9. Content that has been directly copied from the Internet will NOT be accepted.

10. Assignments that have been copied and shared among student(s) will be automatically
rejected and such students are liable for disqualification.

11. Ensure that your answers are according to the marks allocated. Students are advised to
check their Assignments thoroughly before submitting the same.

12. Late submissions up to 30th September 2022 will be accepted with Rs. 200/- per
subject as late fees.

13. Beyond 30th September 2022 Internal Assignment will not be accepted.
14. Keep Xerox Copy of all documents (assignment and DD) with you for your reference and
safety.

15. Following Front Cover Compulsory should be attached with each Internal Assignment
Note Book.

Q2. a) A random sample of 700 oranges was taken from a large consignment and (10)
100 found to be defective. Construct the 95% confidence limits for the %
number of oranges in the consignment.
b) A stud manufacturer wants to determine the inner diameter of a certain (10)
grade of tire. Ideally, the diameter would be 15mm.The data are as follows:

(i) Find the sample mean and median.
(ii) Find the sample variance, standard deviation and range

Q3. a) A lot containing 7 components is sampled by a quality inspector, the lot (08)
contains 4 good components and 3 defective components. A sample of 3 is
taken by the Inspector. Find the expected value of the number of good
components in this sample.
b) Ten school boys were given a test in Statistics and their scores were (12)
recorded. They were given a month special coaching and a second test was
given to them in the batne subject at the end of the coaching period. Test if
the marks given below give evidence to the fact that the students are
benefited by coaching.

Q4. a) In a certain factory turning out blades, there is a small chance 1/500 for any
blade to be defective. The blades are supplied in packets of 10. Use the

containing no defective, one defective, two defective blades in a
consignment of 10000 packets. (Given e-0.02 = 0.9802).
b) In a certain assembly plant, three machines, B1 B2 and B3 is a make
30%,45% and 25%, respectively of the products. It is known from past
experience that 2%, 3% and 2% of products made by each machine
respectively are defective. Now, suppose that a finished product is
randomly selected. What is the probability that it was made by machine B3.
