Established in 2007, The School of Positive Psychology is the pioneer education and
training institution in Asia specialising in the art, science and practice of positive psychology.
The Singapore-based institution offers certificate, diploma and postgraduate programmes
in applied positive psychology, psychotherapy and positive organisational psychology in
affiliation with Anglia Ruskin University in the United Kingdom.
As the only institution dedicated to the study of positive psychology in Singapore, The School
of Positive Psychology is driven by a mission to help people enhance their psychological
capital, optimise human potential and functioning, and improve personal and organisational
wellbeing. The school promotes the growth of this emerging discipline in Asia through its own
research and development initiatives, public workshops, social experiments and events such as
the positive psychology conference.
All students of The School of Positive Psychology’s academic programmes are eligible to
register as members of the International Positive Psychology Association (IPPA), the world’s
leading authority dedicated to the advancement of the science of positive psychology and
its research-based applications. As part of the IPPA community, members are recognised as
accredited practitioners of positive psychology worldwide.

The Specialist Diploma in Positive Psychology and Wellbeing programme starts with a 5 hours pre-course
introduction delivered on our Learner Management System (LMS). Students will have the opportunity to learn all the
essential information for the course, conduct some background learning, complete psychological assessments, connect
with the learning community, and attend a group coaching session to clarify individual’s course objectives.
On completion of Stages 00 and 01, participants will fulfil the requirements of a Specialist Certificate in Positive Psychology
and Wellbeing.

Stage 02 will extend to the second three months, and will include a further 36 hours of learning (84 hours in total),
covering a positive psychology specialism.
There are three core modules which will be self-paced via the LMS. The three core modules are:
1. Positive Communication
2. Mindfulness
3. Designing for Wellbeing
Once the core modules are completed, the students will then start on one of the specialism streams:
1. Positive Wellbeing
2. Positive Organisational Development
3. Positive Education
4. Strengths Coaching and Development
These specialist streams will be delivered in real-time video-conferencing, 4 hours x 9 sessions. The 4 hours will
consist of lectures, activities, personal reflection, group discussion, project planning and peer-led learning.
Introduction to Positive Psychology module provides participants with a solid foundation of knowledge and skills in the
field of positive psychology. Participants will be introduced to a range of research-based and practical strategies to elevate
wellbeing and harness the best in themselves and others.
The sessions will include identifying and cultivating strengths for greater engagement and wellbeing, while also
looking at the importance of positive states such as accomplishment and flow. During the sessions participants will
look at understanding the role of relationships on wellbeing, on how we better understand meaning in life, and how we
navigate challenges and setbacks using resilience.
Participants will also be taught how to use positive psychology interventions to best meet a need in a given context so they
are equipped to introduce positive psychology within their work, relationships or other life domains.
The learning is practical and applied throughout, the participants will learn about the research, practise the
techniques, reflect on the techniques and then discuss together how to apply the learning. A critical and constructive
lens will also be introduced, whereby participants will consider the appropriateness of the concepts with consideration
of the situation. Participants will walk away with a toolkit of practical research-based techniques that they can use to
proactively bring out the best in themselves and others.
A student can opt out at this point and, upon successful completion of their assessments, be awarded a Specialist
Certificate in Positive Psychology and Wellbeing.

In the wake of a global health pandemic, there has been a shift in how people view themselves and their lives. Many want
to rethink how they want to show up in their lives, in their connections and in better understanding of how what they
do matters.
The Positive Wellbeing specialism deepens the learners skills in becoming a Positive Psychology Practitioner. Learners
will cover topics in positive psychology coaching, training, psychological capital and practitioner interventions.
The learner will hone these skills by working on a Positive Psychology project to address a real-world topic. This
specialism will offer learners the skills and knowledge to confidently elevate the wellbeing of others across a wide range
of contexts. Participants will partake in workshops, case studies, discussions, role-plays and conferences to learn to apply
techniques in their context.
Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of the module, students will be able to use the evidence-based techniques of positive psychology to:
• Understand the key features of positive psychology that can be used to elevate wellbeing
• Use positive psychology interventions that manage and elevate personal and collective wellbeing across a wide
variety of life domains
• Design and use practical positive psychology interventions that fulfil defined needs across varied life domains
The Positive Organisational Development module offers participants research-based and practical techniques to
bring out the best in themselves and others within an organisational context.
There are four additional topics covered in this specialism, including Positive Mindful Leadership, Positive Teams &
Systems, Appreciative Inquiry, and Psychological Capital. These offer learners the opportunity to enhance organisational
performance and wellbeing. Participants will partake in workshops, case studies, discussions, role-plays and conferences
to learn to apply techniques in an organisational context.
Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of the module, students will be able to use the evidence-based techniques of positive psychology to:
• Understand the key features of positive organisational psychology that can be used to raise wellbeing in workplaces
• Use positive psychology interventions that manage and elevate personal and collective wellbeing within an
organisational context
• Design and use practical positive psychology interventions that fulfil defined needs across varied organisational
contexts
Building wellbeing is a lifelong learning journey, one that starts from a young age. The Positive Education
specialism offers participants access to research-based and practical positive psychology-based techniques to support
young people in developing their own sense of wellbeing.
Topics covered include Positive Youth Development, Positive Education and an exploration of a Social, Emotional and
Ethical learning model.
This module includes content from Emory University. Participants will partake in workshops, online coursework, case
studies, discussions, role-plays and conferences to learn to apply techniques in a positive education context.
Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of the module, students will be able to use the evidence-based techniques of positive psychology to:
• Understand the key positive psychology techniques that can be used to elevate wellbeing
• Use positive psychology interventions to manage and promote wellbeing that can be used in a youth context
• Design and use practical positive psychology interventions that fulfil the specific needs of the relevant educational
context
Understanding and developing character strengths in individuals is the foundation of positive psychology. Rather than
focusing on the weaknesses, the strength approach facilitates the individual’s journey towards optimal functioning and
flourishing.
The Strengths Coaching and Development specialism offers participants an opportunity to understand the benefits
of a strengths approach in individuals, teams and organisations. Furthermore, as part of the module, the
participants will be enrolled in an online course with an external provider where they will learn to use a validated
strengths assessment tool.
Throughout the module, the students will learn to use the tool for individual and team coaching and gain a deeper
understanding of how the tool can assist in embedding the strengths approach within an organisational culture.

Upon completion of the module, students will be able to use the evidence-based techniques of positive psychology to:
• Understand the principles and underlying concepts of the application of strengths coaching and development
• Understand how strengths are related to individual and team performance
• Asses and apply tools and strategies to develop strengths in self and others
