1. What is the ideal size of the team? Support your answer.

- The ideal size of the team is composed of 8-10 people consisting of a
functional and technical lead. This is a manageable team that will
ensure that the task will be carried optimally. If the task is complex, one
can add more members to a sub-team. A team of the appropriate size
would make it simple to assign duties to each member of the team
while simultaneously monitoring how each member of the team is
performing. A team should not be so tiny that it is incapable of handling
certain responsibilities. A team of 8-10 people would be effective
because it is neither too small nor too large, making it optimal.

The most likely behavior you'd witness in a team of this size is

cooperation among its members. An optimal team size is efficient in
how it handles group matters as well as tasks, and the members of the
group always work together to achieve the common goals they have
set.

2. Discuss “scope creep”.

- Scope creep in project management refers to changes, continual or
uncontrolled increase in a project's scope that can occur at any
moment after the project begins. This can happen when the scope of a
project is not adequately defined, documented, or controlled. Scope
creep occurs when new requirements are introduced to a project after
the initial project scope has been determined and "frozen."

Scope creep can be prevented when all project boundaries be

established in the project scope statement, which is included in the
project start document. It should take time to make it happen so that
expectations are managed, there are no surprises, and stakeholders
understand exactly what they will receive at the conclusion of the
process. Collaboration is critical. By including clients early and

frequently, you reduce the likelihood of delivering something they

don't require or want. Maintain open channels of communication so
that ideas and comments can continue to flow.

3. According to one of the leading experts in software development: “A well

done project plan (prepared at the end of the planning phase) has a 100%
margin of error for project cost and a 25% margin of error for schedule
time”. What will be the actual possible ranges of cost and duration of a
project that was estimated to have a cost of $250,000 and take 10 months
to finish.
- $0-$500,000 in 10 to 12.5 months

4. If a project takes 6.7 months in the planning phase, then the rest of the
project likely will take a total of 44.6667 months.
a. It follows that analysis phase is equal to 8.93 months.
b. It follows that design phase is equal to 15.63 months.
c. It follows that implementation phase is equal to 13.40 months.
5. If a complete project was estimated to takes 72 months to finish, then it
follows that the duration of
a. Design phase is equal to 10.8 months
b. Analysis phase is equal to 14.4 months
c. Implementation phase is equal to 25.2 months
d. Planning phase is equal to 21.6 months
6. A project can be done by 10 workers in 1 year.
a. The person-month of the project = 120 person-month
b. Hiring 1 worker to do the project will takes him 120 months
c. Hiring 2 workers to do the project will takes them 60 months
d. Hiring 5 workers to do the project will takes them 24 months
7. Given that a project is equivalent to 50 person-month:
a. Using 1 developer, it takes him 50 months
b. Using 2 developers, it takes them 25 months
c. Using 10 developers, it takes them 5 months
