TEACHING AND LEARNING STRATEGIES
 Teacher prepares an activity to revise some of the shopping words / phrases used in the unit so far called
‘Shopping Word Bingo’.
 Teacher gives pupils a piece of paper with a grid of 3 x 3 squares. List the shopping words / phrases from
the unit so far on the board. Pupils fill their grid with 9 words from the board of their own choice.
PRE-LESSON
 Teacher gives a definition of the words chosen randomly from the board.
 If pupils have that word they can cross it off the grid.
 The first to get a line across or down wins.
 Make sure to check they have chosen the right word for your definitions.

 Teacher points out to pupils that they will be listening to a radio interview in three parts.
 Teacher draws pupils’ attention to the TIPS and explains them.
 Teacher asks pupils to read through the questions 1-2 and the options given and check understanding.
 Play the CD twice.
 Teacher discusses the answers with the class. If necessary, play the CD again in order to clarify any

 Teacher asks pupils some questions to elaborate on the topic of the listening activity and initiate a short
discussion:
1. How do you like the idea of working as a mystery shopper?
2. What businesses or shops would you choose to visit?
3. What qualities do you think a good mystery shopper should have?
 Teacher asks pupils to discuss the three questions with their talk partner(s) and justify their point of views.
 Teacher collects responses and open up the discussion to the whole class.
