Over the summer and the first month of school, Spencer and I have had a very busy start
to our year. We had two planning meetings that we created a google doc that has our entire year
planned out, ideas for videos, filming schedules, and step-by-step instructions on how to do
certain edits. One of the main things we wanted to do as the school year begins was to get new
tech. The camera works well but the laptop needed replacing and we decided that having a drone
would benefit our positions greatly. We researched different computers and drones and found
ones that would best suit our needs without breaking the bank. We wrote up an argument and
brought it to the RHS booster club meeting and got our funds approved. The last thing we are
working on in this process is having Ms. Valdez purchase said items in our budget. Spencer and I
have already started recording football, girl’s volleyball, and girl’s golf. We have had very
creative ideas of filming, for example, having Austin Foster on the football team, strap my
GoPro on his helmet, and record running out of the tunnel. We are still working on having
someone record cross country as it’s not worth the hour drives to meets where we only record the
runners leaving and recording. We will recruit members of leadership that are in cross country to
film for us as well as show them how to use the camera. Spencer and I also played music at the
first rally and club rush. Spencer controlled the fashion show music timestamps while I recorded
and played music for students coming in and coming out. Spencer and I have decided to create
our own playlist for rally walk-ins or other events so the student body can enjoy upbeat, trendy,
clean music.
I was on the special black light committee for setting up the black lights at the first rally
My mentor Katie has been such a help with the start of this school year. I was a bit rusty
on remembering how to fill things out and work my website but she cleared things up for me. We
have gotten lunch together and have become a lot closer at school because of the mentorship
program.
My concern for this program as of right now is the lack of using everyone’s ideas.
Wherever a problem arises, we have many students in our class whose minds all work very
differently, we should use this to our advantage by taking different perspectives on any problems
A positive comment about someone in class is my partner spencer. Even in the summer,
he took great initiative in his position. Has taught himself pretty much everything. And has
shown dedication and desire to be in the position. He has been a great partner and a great friend,
One change I’d like to see is classes getting closer together. Our class is already in its
junior year and I feel like we’re just starting to all get very close. I’d like to see the freshman and
sophomore classes get close as soon as possible to make their leadership experience a positive
one.
An impact ive tried to make at the campus is to make everyone feel welcomed and that
they are appreciated. I try to make inside jokes or have some type of connection with as many
people as possible.
