Course Description: Business Math provides an understanding of basic mathematical concepts as applied in business. This includes the application of
fundamental operations in purchasing and selling, computing gross and net earnings, annuities, perpetuities, and understanding
Amortization, and Sinking Fund. This course develops the analytical and critical-thinking skills as wells as problem solving skills of
students, which are important in making smart financial decisions and dealing with business and monetary transactions.
Culminating/ Course Outcome: At the end of this course, students are expected to apply learned concepts in dealing with real-life business transactions and
financial decisions instilling the values of fairness, honesty, integrity, accountability, teamwork and being socially responsible
individual and committed towards excellence.

Course Goals Upon successful of this course, students are expected to:
1. Provide knowledge on the importance of Business Math in making smart financial decisions and in dealing with business and
monetary transactions.
2. Equip math concepts in solving Trade Discounts, Freight Terms, Cash Discounts, and Terms of payment in dealing with
purchasing transactions.
3. Provide knowledge on how costs, revenue, profit or income, markup, markdown, mark-on, and break-even analysis can be
applied in sales or in setting up a business instilling the values of honesty, moral- integrity, and fairness.
4. Provide knowledge on how to conduct valuation of annuities in application of discounting and compounding given a financial
transaction.
5. Provide knowledge on creating a schedule of sinking funds and amortizations instilling the core values of teamwork anchored on
Integrity and Accountability.
Prerequisite: General Mathematics & Statistics and Probability
Evaluation Criteria: Passing the course requires 50% every exercises, activities, and exams.
