Purpose
The Actionair V1-V2 kit (supplied as an installation kit or a
fixing kit (see page 2) allows on-site upgrades of Actionair
SmokeShield V1 (2013-2021) dampers to Actionair
SmokeShield V2 (2021-) specification.

Performance (DoP) on the Swegon website.
This guide details the installation method for Square/
Rectangular dampers. Note this procedure can be
performed to flat oval and circular dampers but
please note the reduced working area. Contact us at
actionair@swegon.com for more information.

Before you start Installation Method

First ensure that all the required equipment and materials 1. Isolate the existing actuator from any electrical supplies

Installation Kit - One Required 2. Remove actuator from shroud by pressing the interface

• 4x blade retaining profile (blade restrictor)

Tools Needed
• 1x battery operated drill
• 1x hand rivet gun
• 1 x spanner

3. Clean damper from dust/debris to ensure blades remain

clear and free to operate.

4. Close blades before drilling and insert transit plate into 6. Begin to drill through both skins of the blade ensuring

9. Using a hand rivet gun pull the rivets to fasten the
restrictors to the blade.
10. Ensure the rivets have been pulled correctly, and the
mandrel’s have been disposed of.

11. Place the upgrade label...
If the dampers are not connected to the ductwork:
• Remove the orange CE label that is fitted on the inside
of the damper spigot on the access side (side where
the actuator goes).
• Thoroughly clean the area where the old product label
was fitted.
• Stick one new green product label in the area that has
been cleaned ensuring that the label is stuck properly,
and there are no trapped air bubbles.
If ductwork is connected to the damper:
• Find a suitable position on the damper flange on the
same side of the actuator.
• If there is nowhere available on the actuator side of the
damper then it is acceptable to apply the sticker to the
opposite side.
• Ensure that the area is clear from fixings, and any over-
spill of plaster or fire stopping compound.
• Clean the area in questions to ensure that there is no
residual oils on the flange.
• Stick one new green product label on the inside of the
spigot and across the shroud, in the area that has been
cleaned, ensuring that the label is stuck properly, and
there are no trapped air bubbles.

12. Ensure the blades are shut to enable the Actuator to

be re inserted by pressing the interface locking pin into
the shroud.

13. Turn actuator back onto electrical supplies following

local rules and regulations. Check damper is fully
operational.
14. Complete recommissioning sheet and collect photo-
graphic evidence.
15. Email completed damper photos and completed
recommissioning sheets to actionair@swegon.com.

Retrofit re-commissioning sheet

Based on DW145
This certificate applies only to Swegon Fire Dampers. The installer must complete this installation certificate when
installing fire and smoke dampers. A separate certificate must be completed for each individual fire and smoke damper.

Question
1 Are the dampers the correct type?
2 Are the dampers located correctly?
3 Are the dampers correctly identified?
4 Have supports for both the damper and the adjacent
ductwork been installed in accordance with the appro-
ved manner?
5 Are the dampers fitted in the correct orientation?
6 Is access through the ductwork, to the damper unob-
structed?
7 Has the space around the damper and within the
opening been left clear and not been used for other
services?
8 Using the access opening provided, check that blades
open and close.
9 Has the damper been checked for internal cleanliness,
free from damage and that vertical casings in particular
are free from debris?
10 Has the damper been released to simulate operation of
the thermal release? (Damper drop test)
11 Have the damper blades been re-set following drop
test and the access panel replaced?
12 At the time of damper handover, is the fire barrier and
penetration seal complete?
13 Is the damper installation complete and available for
handover prior to system commissioning?
14 Is the completed handover register cross-referenced
back to the identification codes listed in the system
designers damper schedule?
Action
Confirm damper is correct type for the application
The damper location is to be checked against the installation
drawings/details
Unique system ID to be clearly indicated on the damper or
other agreed location.
Confirm the damper is installed with any actuators (if app-
licable) on the left or right hand side. Not on the top or the
bottom (i.e. blade pivot running vertically).
Unobstructed space should be provided for safe access to the
damper. This must include access through ceiling voids and ad-
jacent services. Damper installer to advise the system designer
if problems are foreseen.
Other services within the installation opening will invalidate
the installation method. Damper installer to advise the lead
contractor if problems are foreseen.
Check position of damper blades.
With the damper in the closed position, inspect for damage.
Ensure damper operation is free from interference.
After re-setting the damper, check the position shown on the
blade position indicator is correct.
Damper installer to record on the handover register if
any following trades are still to complete their activities.
Obtain the relevant acceptance of the damper installation from
the CDM coordinator.
