Musical notations (musical symbols)

Rhythm is the repetition of a particular group of beats.

Basic types of rhythms are:
• The First type of rhythm has 4 beats in one
bar/measure.

1 2 3 4 |1 2 3 4 | 1 2 3 4 | 1 2 3 4||

Here 4 beats are grouped together and are

separated with a line. And that line is called as a
bar line.

• The second type of rhythm has 3 beats in one

bar/measure.

1 2 3 | 1 2 3 | 1 2 3 | 1 2 3 ||

Note*
• We put musical symbols into the rhythm and clap/play an instrument.
• Musical symbols and rhythm are two different things.
For example

1 2 3 4 | 1 2 3 4 | 1 2 3 4 | 1 2 3 4||

Clap clap empty clap

So here we are clapping/playing in the rhythm using musical symbols.

Musical symbols only tell us how long to play that particular note.
Whenever you don’t see the musical symbols
then you just need to count the rhythm. Do
not clap/play when there are no musical
symbols.
