LET’S REVIEW
Direction: Read the statements carefully. Choose from the box the correct

Folk Dance steps are classified into two. 2 4 and 3 4 time dance steps. 2 4
time dance steps have the following basic counting:

On the other hand, 3 4 time dance steps have the following counting:
• 1, 2, 3
• 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3 for two measures

Activity No. 1: Internet Research/Video Search
Search over the internet or VCD/DVD stores videos of the suggested
Local/Indigenous Philippine Folk Dances to be learned (TINIKLING). Watch
the videos carefully. Answer the following questions in your answer sheets:
TINIKLING DANCE
Pole players on knees holding the end of one pole in each hand.
Dancer(s) stand at the left side of the poles facing forward.
INTRODUCTION
1. Stand, boys have their hands behind their backs, girls hold their skirts (or put
their hands on their waists).
2. As music begins, bow to the opposite pole person, then the pole person
beside you.
3. Continue with four toe touches (Count 1-2, tap right foot twice; Count 3, lift
right foot...This gives everyone an opportunity to establish the timing.)

● A – Front tinikling steps (Start with the right foot, do 7 basic tinikling steps.
On 8th beat, do one tinikling step with quarter turn.)
CROSSOVER-COMBINATION
● 1 - Cross the left foot over right and step to the center of the poles.
●2 – Step the right foot to the right of the poles. /li>
●3 – Step the left foot to the right of the poles.
●1 - Cross the right foot over left and step to the center of the pole.
●2 – Step the left foot to the left of the poles.
●3 – Step the right foot to the left of the poles.
●A – Front tinikling steps (Start with the right foot, do 7 basic tinikling steps.
On 8th beat, do one tinikling step with quarter turn.)
●B – Repeat A. two more times.
●C – To finish the dance, do 5 basic tinikling steps. On the 6th beat, do one
tinikling step with a quarter turn; on 7th and 8th beat, bow to the opposite
pole person, then the pole person beside you.
In this activity, you will be given time to prepare for your final
presentation.
1. Base from your researched videos and from the dance literature of Tinikling
Dance, consider the costumes, accessories and other relative implements
used in the dance.
2. Prepare all the needed materials, costumes, and accessories.

Activity No. 6: PRESENTATION OF OUTPUT FOR EVALUATION
In this activity, prepare yourself for the final evaluation. You are to
perform to your teacher your prepared Local/Indigenous Philippine Folk
Dance, Tinikling. Don’t forget to wear the proper costume and accessories,
footwear and other implements required of the dance.
Performance will be rated according to the rubrics given for
assessment.
