I. Objective:
At the end of discussion students are expected to.

a. Familiarize the characteristic of Islamic and non Islamic musical tradition of Mindanao and
the musical instrument of the region.
b. Appreciate the vocal and instrumental music of Mindanao

II. Content and Materials

Topic. Music of Mindanao


Reference. Mapeh 7 Music and Arts (learners Guide)
Materials: Visual aid, laptop, chalk, speaker

III. Procedure:

Presentation: the teacher will ask the following questions:

In what part of the Philippines can we find Mindanao?


Who among of you here have been in Mindanao?
What are the famous spot or things that can be found in Mindanao?
Can you name me cities that can be found in Mindanao?
The teacher will play a music from muslim.

B. Lesson Proper:

The musical and tradition in Mindanao is divided into two, the Islamic and Non Islamic
The Islamic is observed among the maguindanao, Maranaos, Yakans, Samal and tausug
The Non Islamic practice by the Lumad people

C. Development of the lesson

Activity

The teacher will play vocal music from Lumad and Islam and the students will analyze the elements
and mood of the music they heard. It will be written in ¼ sheet of paper.

IV. Assignment

Give 5 instruments that can be found in Islam and Lumad People


Give the definition of each instrument.
