2 Good day everyone! How was your long vacation? Did
you enjoy your vacation? Hope so! Here we are signing on
for our school routine. I am sure you are excited with your
new courses and new teachers. So WELCOME to St.
Michael College of Hindang , Leyte Incorporated. And
welcome to the Education Department.

I am sure you are already aware of what is your course.


Who can tell? Raffy , what is our course? Yes, it is Major
5A. What is the course description of Major 5A? Mira?
Correct, Teaching and Assessment of Macroskills.

Now, look carefully at our course description. What are

By the way class before we go further I would like to


introduce myself to you. I am Karen N.Gaspar. I lived in
Brgy. Tabok Hindang Leyte .I am also a graduate of Saint
Michael College of Hindang Leyte Inc. I am looking forward
to getting to know you better and learning together in this
course.

is the description and its objectives first.

Course Description

Class Major 5A – is a 3-unit course meaning we will meet


3 times a week for 1 hour per meeting. Of course, we will
have a flexible blended learning mode of teaching. Again I
am encouraging everyone to keep on reading your module
even if you are through answering the activities.

This course provides various methods and techniques


for teaching and assessing macro skills. These methods
will help prospective teachers on how to teach and assess
what they taught to the learners as far as macro skills are
concerned.

Furthermore, the different


macro skills will be discussed thoroughly so that future
teachers will have enough or ample knowledge on the
different macro skills that they will share or teach to their
learners in the days to come.

In every macroskills each learners are to make a lesson


plan incorporating the methods and strategies they
learned in the discussions.

This course will also describes the different macro skills


which we need to be discussed thoroughly

To equip them to become effective teacher in language


or communication arts.

In this course also the language
and literacy domain to be acquired by

they perform their duties they have

they are going to focus.
9 Course Objectives:

At the end of the semester the learners are


expected to;

1. Demonstrate familiarity with the different macro skills in


the productive and receptive skills
2. Demonstrate familiarity with the past and present
methods of teaching and assessing macro skills taught.
3. Identify the major methods of teaching and assessing
macros skills their strength, weakness and how they
are taught in the classroom.
4. Understand how assessment can be used in listening,
speaking, writing and reading.

5. Give examples of assessment in a different context and
0 justify their uses with theories and concepts.
6. Write a lesson plan showing the methods in teaching
the macro skills and the appropriate assessment tools
for any of the macro skills learned.
7. Define the different language and literacy domains.
11 Course Requirements

To pass this course one should comply the following:


1. Read and comprehend the module or learning
package sent or given to you.
2. Copying from one’s work is prohibited please make
your own answers.
3. Answers of the module sent is considered your
attendance for the week non-submission will be make
absent
4. Follow the format I will attached in this module.
5. As much possible take the major exam as
scheduled.

Prelim . . . Sept.22-24,2022
Midterm . . .Oct. 20-22,2022
Semi-Final . . . Nov.17-19,2022
Final . . . Dec.15-17,2022

next module however, I have here an announcement
that needs your understanding and compliance.
Please be guided by the Guidelines as you continue
your journey in this noble profession you like very

13 GUIDELINES FOR DROPPING STUDENTS IN A
PARTICULAR COURSE

I. Voluntary Dropping
Students voluntarily report to the registrar’s office
for dropping a course(s) two weeks after the close of
enrolment.

II. Automatic Dropping


Students will be automatically dropped from the
enrolled course(s) on any of the following grounds:

A. Attendance
14 No attendance from the start of classes up to the
Midterm Examination
. Online Students – attendance will be monitored
through moodle class schedule.

. Offline Students – attendance will be monitored in the


getting of learning packages and in the submission of
required output indicated in the module/learning packages.

None compliance and submission of assignments,


projects, outputs, and not taking of quizzes from the start
of classes up to Mid Examination.
15 B. Major Examination

Failure to take the Pre-lim and Mid Term


examinations unless with valid reasons such as illness,
supported by medical certificate, no internet connectivity
for on line learners is on quarantine or under lockdown
due COVID -19 for offline learners.

C. Failure to inform the teachers the reasons for non-


compliance of the requirements despite of teachers
making follow-ups and reminders through
- Messenger
- email, text, group chat
- written excuse letter
16 III. Submission of the lists of dropped students

Teachers will submit the list of automatically


dropped learners to the Dean’s Office one week after the
Mid Term Examination. The Dean will check the submitted
list and forward it immediately to the Registrar’s Office
one day after the submission of the course teacher.

So class, take note of this guideline because this will


affect greatly your life as a student. Class as I said,
college is the passport to a better life in the future. Stay
focused on your study and enjoy your module. Remember
any concerns that you need my help please feel free to see
me, text me, chat, or call. I’m always there for YOU.
17 Class, I have a suggestion for all of you. My wish and
prayer are that all of you will pass the Licensure
Examination for Teachers (LET) what you are going to do
now is to start reviewing for the LET exam. The earlier the
better there are lots of reviewers from education students
who pass the LET you can borrow it. Or you may
download review materials from your cellphone. More
suggestions as we continue in this course.
