COMMUNICATION
INTRODUCTION: - Communication has been derived from the
Latin word Communes means common It is an exchange of view ideas,
facts, opinion or emotion between two or more people.

DEFINITION:-
1. Communication is interchange of thought opinion or information
by speech writing or sign.

2. According to “Robert Anderson”


“Communication is purposive exchange resulting in workable
understanding & argument between the sender an receiver of the
massage.”
3. “According to George verdmen”
“Communication is the process of exchanging information, thought
ideas & feeing from one individual to two another.
4. “According to John. M. Brion”
Communication is the transmission & receiving information
feelings and attitudes with the overall purpose of having
understands producing a response.

Communication is an e having process that allows the information

(1) One way Communication: - The flow of Communication is

(2) Two way Communication: - The flow of communication in

information.
(3) Non-verbal communication:- The Communication can occurs
without words it means the word less- massage conveyed
though all other act.
(4) Verbal Communication:- The traditional way of
Communication has been by words of mouth it involves
listening reading & thinking.
(5) Formal & informal Communication:- formal Communication
is an official communication is an official communication which
follow line of authority & flow from heighten authority down
words at down word to up words.
Informal communication is an unofficial gossip
etc. It follows horizontally among peer group of an
organization.
(6) Tele communication:- It is process of communicating over
distance using electromagnetic instruments for the purpose
design radio, TV, Internet, telephone.
(7) Visual communication: - The visual form of communication in
which chart, graphs, tables, ma, poster are using for
communication.
(8) Social communication: - It is an planned communication that
gives satisfaction to patient by performing procedures.
E.g. => elimination heeds.
(9) Structural communication :- It is the planned communication
E.g. => teaching a diabetic patient about self administration of
insulin injection.
(10) Therapeutic Communication: - It is planned & unplanned
Communication that is used by nurses to relive anxiety & fear in
the patient.

(1) Sender (Information source) :- The Sender is the originator of
massage & the communication process being with information
source sender has some raw information which he puts in to
massage form before Communication the massage to another.

(3) Channel: - Channels is Selected depending upon the types of
massage by channel is impulse media of communication
between sender two receiver.
 Media System: - Total, communication system is based an
media system. These is-

 Interpersonal Communication
 Mass media
 Traditional of folk media
 Interpersonal Communication: - The most Common
channel of communication is inter personal or face to face
communication being personal & direct It is more effective.
 Mass Media: - In Mass community the channel is one of
more of the following T.V., radio, printed media etc. The mass media
the have the advantage of reaching a relatively larger population in
shorter time.
 Traditional or folk media: - Every communication has one
network of traditional or folk media such as folk dances, singing,
drama, hawtani in Uttar Pradesh hari katha western India.
(4) Receiver:- Receiver is the person who receiving &
understanding the massage all communication must have a
audience these may be a single person or target group of people
the audience may be two types.
 Controlled: - A control audience is one which held to gather by
a common interest.
 Uncontrolled: - A free audience in which a people gathered I
to gather for motives or curio city.
(5) Feed back:-  Feed back is the flow of information from the
audience to sender. It is reaction of receiver to words massage.
In interpersonal communication feedback is immediate in mass
communication it takes some to get feedback.

Barrier of Communication
There are obstacles which continuous block & discard the flow of idea
& information some barriers are follows.
 Physiological barrier:- It include noice & space if any difficulties in
hearing expression or the problem in personal space cause
physiological barrier.
 Physiological barrier: - Emotional disturbances level of intelligence
of any language difficulty cause psychological barrier.

 Environment barrier: - noise invisibility because of over distance to


communicator can cause environmental barrier.

 Cultural Barrier: - Illiteracy customs belief religions attitude


economical & social class can cause cultural barrier.

 Language Barrier: - using of a difference language with in a group


cause difficulties in under standing the information.

 Inter Personal Barrier:- If their is interest lack common experience


negative attitude between to or more communication cause
communication barrier.

 Stereotyping :- It is an over simplified ideas of the typical charters tic


of a person group of an event that cause barrier in communication

 Muddled massage: - Muddled means a poorly organized & confused


message that cause of communication barrier.

 Mechanical Barrier: - Mechanical problem such as hearing & visual


difficulties cause mechanical barrier.

 Status & position Barrier :-


Status refers to the regard & attitude of the
organization to words position and occupation. It the
person is not taking adequate response cause
communication barrier.
Method to overcome the Barrier of communication
Effective communication is essential for successful interpersonal
relationship the following measures can be abated these purpose.
(1) Reduce the environmental factor :-
 The language barrier can be reduced by using the common
language.
 Cultural barrier can be reduced by understanding the culture
of each other.
 Physiological barrier can be reduced by understanding
hearing
Hearing aids & be Braille system to read.
 Avoid muddling of massage.
(2) Mutual trust & confidence:- Mutual trust respect &
confidence among the communication can improve the quality
communication.
(3) Clarify the ideas: - The communication must be clear about
what he want to communication.
(4) Complete of the massage: - Massage must be complete timely
& adequate in all response & respect.
(5) Understand the receiver: - The communication must become
aware of the total physical and human setting in which the
massage will be received.
(6) Use appropriate channel :-
The media and channel in
communication must be appropriate to
the massage.
(7) Feed back :-
Communication should be a two way process &
the communication should try to know the
reaction of receiver.
(8) Simplified structure: - Lines of communication should be
short & direct.
(9) Consistency in communication :-
The massage a should be consistent with
objectives.
(10) Improve listening :-
The sender of massage as well as receiver
must listen with attention and patience.
