ACCOMPLISHMENT REPORT

Orientation and Learning Sessions on the Conduct of Psychosocial Support Activities

To ensure that learners' mental health and general well-being are given top priority as the nation returns to
face-to-face instruction, the Department of Education (DepEd) has directed schools to conduct
psychosocial support activities

Per DepEd Order No. 34 s. 2022 titled “SCHOOL CALENDAR AND ACTIVITIES FOR THE SCHOOL
YEAR 2022-2023”, all schools are directed to conduct and facilitate the Psychosocial Support (PSS)
Activities to all learners on August 22-26, 2022.

The psychosocial support activities are imperative in promoting, protecting, and prioritizing the learners’
socio-emotional well-being as they transition back to in-person classes. These activities will be facilitated by
classroom advisers.

The psychosocial approach looks at individuals in the context of the combined influence that psychological
factors and the surrounding social environment have on their physical and mental wellness and their ability
to function.
Better mental health can lead to healthier lifestyles, better physical health, greater opportunities for
educational attainment, greater productivity and economic participation, better relationships with people,
more social cohesion, and improved quality of life.

During the orientation on August 18, 2022, EGES teachers provided parents with instruction on how to provide ps
ychosocial support activities ahead of face-to-face lessons. On the first day of face-to-face instruction, teachers
also gave the students an introduction to the activities.

The PSS was made possible by the Emiliano Gala Elementary School teachers as one of the important
undertakings in the class. The learners engaged enthusiastically. Furthermore, the activities promoted
camaraderie, sensibility, and developed confidence as they prepared themselves for the actual learning
process.

PSS supports the development of the students' defensive mechanisms, particularly their capacity to recognize har
mful and hazardous circumstances. It can also help to promote holistic child development, including physical, em
otional, and social growth, which is especially important during this difficult time.

The activity was spearheaded by the school principal, Merafe E. Aluan, and was participated in by all the
teachers from Kindergarten to Grade 6.

Education has a significant role in the emotional and physical safety of children in emergency situations
and can be a crucial psychosocial intervention. By offering both regular and structured, supporting
activities that assist develop children's cognitive, social, and emotional skills, education can provide
students with a safe, stable environment in the midst of a crisis and help reestablish a feeling of
normality, dignity, and hope.
