Good afternoon everyone!

I am glad to tell you about my meeting with my dear colleagues:

The meeting was held last Friday, September 4th, 2020 at 3:00 pm. I invited all my
English colleagues at Santo Tomás de Aquino School to a Zoom meeting a day before
Friday, even the teachers who represent the primary school. The English area is
integrated by 9 teachers, 7 from secondary and 2 from primary. I could have talked to 5
of my colleagues.
To develop my virtual meeting, I designed a Power Point slide to explain the six aspects
I liked about the Way to go! And English please! Series.
The aspects we found useful from the series are:
- The need of resources. In our School, the resources are limited, for this reason, the book as a
resource is a very useful instrument or material for developing our pedagogical practice, it
is because, the text guide is the main resource most of students have for learning the
second language and this material have a motivated lay out, topics, cultural aspects
and activities that make students to feel good learning English.
- The relation to national and international standards. The books take into account the
guidelines set out by the Ministry of Education in terms of the Basic Learning Rights
and the CEFR.
Some conclusions from the meeting were:
- Schedule hours. It is important to have into account the numbers of hours that
English, as a subject, has in or school. We have three hours weekly, and our concern
is that time is not enough for developing all the material.
- Students level. Our context limits children level. They do not have a very high level of
English, but we hope that working with the support provided by this material, we can
take advantage and help children improve their skills in English, besides that they are
very motivated with the game of "Be the 1 challenge"

1. These textbooks are transversality, adaptability, flexibility, and the promotion of 21st
century skills.
2. The main competence considered throughout this series is the Communicative
Competence, including the linguistic competence which refers to the knowledge of lexical,
syntactic and phonological aspects of a language.
3. One main purpose of this series is to create an appealing and enjoyable environment in
which students can develop their English.

 I shared with my colleagues these reasons to use “English, Please! Fast Track” and “Way
to Go!” series using a video conference by google meet.
 We found very useful these material, since this material helps us to teach English in an
effective way because it has a great variety of activities with interesting themes for
children and teens.
 The series are interesting because it contents The student’s book, Student’s Workbook,
Teacher’s guide, CDs, Interactive games for Students, and Interactive/digital version of
the books (Colombia Aprende website)
