LESSON GUIDE
II. Subject Matter: Introduction to World Religions and Belief System: Definition of Terms
a. Review:
The students answer questions asked by the teacher about religion.
c. Lesson Proper:
The teacher presents the subject matter on the Definition of Terms of World Religions
and Belief System
Students read the learning outcomes to be achieved at the end of the lesson.
Students will define religion.
Students will differentiate religion from spirituality, theology, and philosophy of religion
Students will communicate their understanding of their religion.
Students define belief system or a worldview
Students can conclude that a belief system or worldview is a particular way of ordering
the realities of one’s world.
Students can conclude that religion is the pursuit of transformation guided by a sacred
belief system
Students can conclude that spirituality is one’s integrative view of life. It involves a quest
for the meaning and ultimate value of life as opposed to an instrumentalist or materialistic
attitude to life.
Students can identify the elements of religion.
Students will be grouped into 4 to discuss and report about the different worldview.

d) Synthesis:
The teacher asks the students to read once again the learning objectives of the lesson and asks
them if each objective was achieved.
IV. Evaluation:
Essay Writing: Write a two-page essay on your activity notebook on the topic “Religion: What
does it mean to Me?” guided by the following questions:
a. Write different values have your religion instilled in you?
b. What various guiding principles which may have been influenced by your religion do
you adhere to in your life?
V. Assignment:
Students will prepare a character sketch of a person who is spiritual but not religious and a person who
is religious but not spiritual.
