development of puberty stage wherein there is
physical changes occur).

So class, what is Puberty? (answers may vary)

Puberty is a long process that includes many


physical and emotional changes.

When does Puberty happen?

Puberty happens up until around the age of 8,


there is little physical difference between boys
and girls, in girls or people with ovaries puberty
usually starts at about 8-13 years old. In boys
or people with testicles, puberty usually starts
a little later at around 9-14 years of age.

Physical Changes

Female:
 Hips get wider

 Breast develop to larger


 Menstrual Cycle begins - This is called a
period or menstruation and its usually last
3-7 days. First period usually starts about
10-14 years of age.

 Shoulders may get a bit wider

 Hair in armpits (but generally less than for


boys).

 Vaginal discharge at times- small amount


of whitish discharge which is normal and it
helps keep the vaginal clean.
Male:

 Shoulders get more wider

 Adam’s apple become wider

 Hair on chest, facial hair and pubic hair.

 Generally get more mascular


Both female and male can experience:

 Gets taller

 May put on weight

 Pimples

 Pubic hair grows

 Body shape changes


 Body odor

Emotional Changes

Most young people go to through puberty
