Lesson Plan: Seed Parts & Germination

The document is a lesson plan about the parts of seeds and germination. It outlines objectives, materials, and procedures for the lesson. The procedures include an opening, motivation with seed pictures, a story about a tiny seed, discussing seed parts like the embryo and radicle, and applying knowledge through group activities identifying seed parts and answering questions. Students are assigned homework questions about factors affecting germination and the growth of seeds into plants.

Detailed Lesson Plan in Earth Science 4
I. LESSON OBJECTIVES
At the end of the period, the students will be able to:
a. Identify the parts of a seed
b. Define GERMINATION
c. Illustrate understanding on the parts of each part.

II. SUBJECT MATTERS

TOPIC: PARTS OF A SEED IN ITS GERMANITION
REFERENCE: Science for Daily use 4 textbook, pp. 83-84
MATERIALS: Pictures, visual aid, and Projector

III. PROCEDURES

TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENTS RESPONS/ACTIVITY

A. PREPARATORY ACTIVITY.
 Opening Prayer
May I request Miss.  (Miss. Catubay.

(I WILL POST PICTURES)
Have you seen a seed?  Yes, Sir.

Seeds have been an

important development in the
production and spread of
flowering plants,
Seed, though too small, they
have their own parts, like an
ordinary living thing.

D. PROPER DISCUSSION.

Today, we are going to

discuss the different part of a
SEED.

A seed only develops its parts

only when it undergoes a
process called SEED
GERMINATION.

Here is the Definition of

Germination.

GERMINATION is the
process by which plants
emerge from seed and begin
to growth.

I have here an illustration of a

seed during germination.

(I’ll be posting the Illustration)

These are the parts of a

SEED during Germination.
 Students responds
Parts of a SEED
The first one is called;
 EMBRYO- a very young
plant from which new
plant grow under proper
condition.

Okey class read the second

one everybody.

The second one is the;

 RADICLE- in a dicot is the
embryonic root.

Very good!

Within the seed, there is

usually a store of nutrients for
the seeding that will grow
from the embryo. The seed
has its own food supply called  Yes, Sir.
the EPICOTYL and
COTYLEDONS
Third is,
 SEED COAT- develops
from tissue, originally  An EMBRYO
surrounding the OVULE.
The seed coat helps
protect the embryo.

Okey! that’s all!

 EPCOTYL &
Did you understand the COTYLEDON
Lesson?
Very good!

Okey! lets have a short

review.

What is the young plant

from which a new plant
grows under the proper
condition?

One more, what do you

call the seeds own food
supply?

Excellent!

E. APPLICATION

Now, we will have a group

activity. I am going to
group you in to two. Each
good will provide one half
sheet of paper.
The group 1 will, Identify
the parts of the seed from
the figure.
The group two will answer
the question on the board.
