computation and reporting. This may also be done face-to-face or online.
2. Ask your Resource Teacher what you can do to assist him/her in the scoring of students’
assessment tasks, grade computations and preparation for reporting in the Parents-Teachers
Conference.

Notice

• The individual students’ scores in relation to established criterion of success or cut-off
score;
• Parents/guardians participation and comments during the Card-Giving Da/ PTA
conference
Your own feelings and thoughts as you assisted your CT:
• Score tests and compute grades
• Prepare for PTC
• Respond to queries and other concerns raised in the PTC

Guide Questions
1. What are the teaching implications of the students’ test scores and grades?
Answer: The teacher's effectiveness and teaching methods directly impact the students' test
scores and grades. If the teacher delivers the lesson well and monitors student learning, the
results will be excellent.

2. In what subjects did students perform best? Poorest?

Answer: Students excel in Filipino and English when they are given performance tasks or
authentic assessments that capture their interest. These subjects become engaging when teachers
are enthusiastic and keep the students engaged. On the other hand, math appears to be the
weakest subject for most students. Many struggle with even simple topics, as evidenced by their
poor assessment results.

3. How was the PTC attendance of parents and guardians? What does this imply?
Answer: Higher parent-teacher meeting attendance indicates greater student performance and
parental involvement. Conversely, low attendance suggests a lack of concern or busy schedules
preventing parents from monitoring their child's performance and behavior at school.

4. What parents/guardians were most common during Card-Giving Day?

Answer: Parents of children with poor grades often inquire about the factors influencing their
child's performance. They seek to understand what is contributing to their child's academic
struggles.
Self-Learning Activity
A. What personal message do I get from these students’ scores, grades and parent’s
PTC attendance and comments?
Answer: During report card or parent-teacher conferences, common inquiries from parents
include asking about factors that can impact their child's grades and seeking advice on how to
improve and enhance their child's academic performance. Some parents may privately inquire
about any issues with their child's behavior or overall performance. Additionally, parents may
express gratitude for the teacher's patience in dealing with their sometimes nosy and stubborn
children.

Write Action Research Prompts

OBSERVE
1. One good thing that I observe in scoring/grading/PTA conference was during the
scoring/grading/PTA conference, parents understood their child's grades better because they
know their abilities and intellectual status. They were early arrived I'm classroom and excited to
look for the grades of their son/daughter.

2. One thing that did not go very well in scoring/grading/PTA conference was some parents
questioned why their child had a low grade and as what I've observed some parents didn't
understand the scoring system, so the teacher adviser explained to them about the grading
system and the performance of their son/ daughter.

REFLECT
The scoring/grading/PTA conference went well because the parents got along with each
other and had good communication with the teacher about improving their child's performance
at school.

The scoring/grading/PTA conference did not go well because the parents started
questioning their child's grades all at once. Some parents interrupted the teacher while
explaining, leading to a loud and noisy atmosphere. Misunderstandings arose as the teacher
couldn't address everyone's concerns.

ACT
To ensure that the scoring, grading and the conduct of PTC serve their purpose, i.e. to
ensure that students learn, I will read researchers on. or view video on how to properly
explain the grading system to parents and help them understand it. I will also search for strategies
on how to build a strong relationship with parents to effectively monitor student performance.

PLAN
To ensure that the scoring, grading and the conduct of PTC, I would like to conduct an
action research on evaluating the transparency of student assessment. This research aims to
provide valuable insights to teachers and parents, helping them identify areas for improvement
and gain a better understanding of their child's strengths and weaknesses.
SHOW Your Learning Artifacts for your Portfolio
Compile samples of scoring and grade computation that you did. The tests and
products/portfolios that you score and Students’ Report Card must belong to the same students
to see development. Include snapshots of PTCs and list of parents/guardians’’ comments during
PTC and how these comments were addressed.
