1 General

1.1 General Information

NAUTOCONNING is the central display and information system for the ship's
command and is used for all applications, Route Monitoring, Collision Avoidance, Nav
Data Control and Alert HMI.

Aligned with the SYNAPSIS INS, Radar and ECDIS (Electronic See Chart)
NAUTOCONNING can be placed in a Multifunction Console (MFC).

These INS functions can be reached via the MFC switch, placed on the top right of the
display.

1.2 Tasks and Performance features

The Nautoconning is a collection of INS Tasks:
x Navigation Control Data
x Status and Data Display
x Central Alert Management HMI
x Alert History

Other INS functions are part of the Nautoconning as well:

x System Status
x Sensor Selection
x AIS History
x Nav Tex History

In addition to the INS functionality other display pages can be included in the
Nautoconning system. These additional pages are ship specific, in this case the page
design are project or ship specific.

Example pages (see annex):

x Docking
x Repeater
x Instruments

The Central Alert Management reads in all navigational and system alarms, warnings
and messages and displays them in the form of a table.

Each information line shows the status and alarm category, the cause, an information
text and the date and time of generation.

Alarms and warnings are classified and displayed in two categories.

Category A

Alarms and warnings of this category must be acknowledged at the MFC application
where they have been generated.

Category B

Alarms and warnings of this category can be acknowledged at any MFC application
(Radar, ECDIS) and at the CAM HMI.

Active or unacknowledged alarms are always handled with the highest priority and in
the order they are displayed.

ALARM

The latest active alarm is always displayed at the top line of the list in RED.

An unacknowledged alarm is displayed as flashing RED text on the alarm displays of

the applications, Radar and ECDIS.

A buzzer alarm (continuous tone) is triggered.

Alarms must be acknowledged according to their category, A or B.

WARNING

As long as there is no active or unacknowledged alarm, a active warning is displayed

in the top line of the list in ORANGE.

An unacknowledged warning is displayed as flashing ORANGE text on the alarm

displays of the applications, Radar and ECDIS.

A buzzer alarm is triggered once briefly.

Warnings must be acknowledged according to category A or B.
