COURSE DESCRIPTION
The course Advance Speech Communication prepares students in writing and presenting timely and relevant professional type of speeches such as Tedx style Talk,
Symposium/Seminar/Conference and other speech activities .
PRE-REQUISITE(S)
NONE
COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES (CLO)
At the end of the course, the student must be able to:
Knowledge
1. Identify a suitable topic that is a current, relevant and appropriate for Tedx style Talk, Symposium/Seminar/Conference and other speech activities.
2. Apply a structured format of an effective speech for a Tedx style Talk, Symposium/Seminar/Conference and other speech activities.
Skills
1. Research, evaluate, select and use online and printed sources when preparing speeches.
2. Use advance technology and new media as visual aid/s or way of presenting speeches.
3. Deliver enabling speech activities and other functional speeches eloquently.
4. Collaborate with peers to deliver a speech for formal gatherings.

1. Write a reflective essay on the acquired learning and developed values such as integrity, compassion, resilience, respect, innovation, patriotism and industry.
2. Encourage the community to participate in nation building by presenting speeches based on social issues.
3. Observe culture and gender sensitivity when delivering speeches through non-verbal cues and language used on speeches.

TIME ALLOTMENT
3 hours lecture every week
COURSE REQUIREMENTS
Students are required to do the following:
1. Viewing and submitting of required videos
2. Attending class regularly
3. Performing assigned speech performance tasks
4. Submitting speech outline/s and observation papers
5. Submitting an e-portfolio and reflection paper of all recorded speeches performed in class
6. Participating actively in all enabling activities and discussions
7. Conducting Tedx style Talk
8. Organizing and facilitating a Symposium/Seminar/Conference suited or specific to the discipline.

CLASS POLICIES
1. Students must observe and practice the National University core values.
2. Students must avoid using their mobile devices, unless deemed necessary, in order to concentrate better in class.
3. Attendance is a must. Students must not have more than 8.1 hours of absence and tardiness (3 tardiness = 1 absence) in the entire
trimester. Otherwise, a grade of 0.0 will be given at the end of the trimester.
4. Any student who violates policy on academic honesty will automatically receive a grade of 0.0. These include plagiarism and data fabrication.
5. Students must always come prepared to class and are required to bring all necessary books/references and materials with them.
